“Great beach, okay food, and outstanding service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights with a Costco promotion and were very happy with our choice.

Room: We had an oceanfront room with a balcony. The balcony is huge with built in cushioned benches. Very nice for having coffee in the morning. Even though it gets loud in the afternoon from the pool entertainment, I would still prefer this side to the lagoon side. Our safe didn't work and when we called someone came in 10 minutes to fix it. Our room service also came very promptly so we could have our coffee before heading down for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. The showerhead was a little ancient but good water pressure.

Beach: Amazing soft white sand! The chaises aren't comfortable so we usually hung out by the pools. If I went back I would rent a cabana for $25. The beach is huge and you can walk either direction for a long way.

Pools: Great choices in pools. There are some kids but you can find quiet areas without them if you desire. The hot tub was not hot enough for me, especially because it got so cold at night.

Food: Since we only paid $200/night for all inclusive we weren't expecting anything great. We were very surprised to like the Sushi Bar and the restaurant at the beach. Skip the buffet for lunch and dinner and go to the two restaurants instead. Drinks were okay - ask for a name brand or you'll get the cheap stuff in your mixed drink.

Service/Tips: I've seen some comments about tips and bad service. We never tipped anyone except the busboy who brought our luggage in to our room the first night and we had fabulous service. We also said hello and thank you in Spanish and tried to order in Spanish. I think they appreciated our effort. I've never stayed anywhere that had happier and nicer employees - really outstanding - they made our stay wonderful.

WIFI - we signed up for the loyalty program so we got free wifi in our room and the business center is free with a printer which is a big savings.

SPA - the exercise room has a good amount of equipment and the spa area is nice. I had a $100 voucher so I got a facial - it was okay - I wouldn't get another one - probably stick with the basic mani/pedi.

Overall we had a wonderful time and thought it was well worth what we paid.

Room Tip: Ocean - ask for a balcony. Lagoon if you need a quiet afternoon nap.

“Skip this All Inclusive Resort all together!.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

First let me say, I love All Inclusive resorts and have been to several. We are retired and not fussy people, just middle class. The Omni just started going All Inclusive February 1st, our trip was Feb 6-10, and they so do NOT have their act together! If you want this resort, wait at least 6 mo or more till they figure things out.
Pros: The Ocean and beach were exquisite, as they would be all along the Hotel Zone. The Hotel was kept extremely clean, very nice. Our Lagoon facing room was perfectly fine. The staff really tried but moved at a snails pace. We met people for ALL over the world and that was fun, Russia, Japan, France, UK, Eastern Europe, Very International flavor to the guests! That's about it.
Cons: Food was average at best, We tried to get a reservation at DiVinci's AND the Indonesian Restaurant as soon as we arrives and was told by the female Concierge that the restaurants were booked SOLID through the End of March, except for 10pm seatings! Sorry, we are not party animals that eat at 10pm so we very out of luck, very disappointing!!
That meant "buffet food" EVERY night!! Everything about this resort screams cheap buffet. If that cool by you, fine but we have been to other resorts not had this ONLY choice for a good meal.
We booked through Costco travel and had a $100 resort credit, however they fail to tell you that you can ONLY use it in the SPA, Lobster in the reservation restaurants ( which you can't get in) and phone calls. We purchased some sunscreen and 2 other items in the hotel store, total $53.00 USD ( unbelievable!!) but thought no problem, we have that $100 credit? right? NO, only at check out do we find out we owe 53.00 on our credit card because the stores in the hotel ( that accept charges to your room ) are NOT connected to the hotel.
This hotel is so NOT handicapped friendly, or even mobility friendly, stairs and more stairs and more stairs to get anywhere!!
Although the rooms are nice, the walls are Paper thin, we heard everything, from the hallway to the room on both sides of us ALL THE TIME. And it was not just us, the room next to us, knocked on our door to ask us to turn down our TV because they thought it was blaring in their room, it was not terrible loud, just no insulation between rooms.
Wireless Internet, does NOT work anywhere except the lobby, nothing in the room at all or anywhere else, very frustrating because we has included free Wi-Fi just for the purpose of using it by the beach or in our room at night. FRUSTRATING!
Now my biggest pet peeve, and the indication of a definitely NOT 4 star all Inclusive, they allow "chair saving" which means that if you didn't get up at 5am or earlier to put your beach towel on a lounge either by the ocean or by the pool, preferably in the shade as the sun is punishing, you were out of luck! This is a terrible practice since people would reserve a prime spot with their towel and then leave for an excursion for the day and come back to it at 4pm! Dream All Inclusive does not allow this, if you are not in the vicinity of your towel and chair, they remove it for someone else to use, as it should be!!!! They had more guests than loungers and definitely not enough shady areas.
The pools are ice cold, Jacuzzi's not hot , about body temp. but pretty to look at.
We will never return to Omni, if we come back to Cancun, it will be at a Dreams resort, which may cost more but at least you will be sure to have a great vacation.

“Super Family Vacation...will absolutely Return again!!! 5*****”

Just returned from a 7 day all inclusive trip to the Omni and have nothing at all to complain about! Our trip here was fantastic and we will return again with other family members. All the food was tasty and we enjoyed the theme supper nights, the staff put a lot of effort into making the buffet look like Chinese night with all the decorations and had the table made up on Italian night to look like a gondola etc etc. The hotel rooms are very luxurious with balconies, mini bars, and all the extras you would expect at a better hotel...spotless too everywhere in the hotel. Pools were great and the beach huge with attentive waiters all the time. My husband daughter and I loved this property...very nice jewellry store and gift shops too. Will go back here in a heart beat...don't hestitate booking here...nice for families.

Room Tip: an oceanview was given to us no charge , we just asked if they could upgrade us and they did

I planned a wedding at Omni with the wedding coordinator whose name is Jesus Gomez. He is great at what he does and makes you feel very sure that things will work out. There is nothing I can complain about with my wedding.
Thanks Jesus

Room Tip: Choose oceanview well worth it.

“Cancun Winter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My wife and I visited the Omni from January 12th. to January 21st. The weather was a little windy the first few days and in fact it rained very hard the entire second day. The weather got better each day after that so we were able to enjoy ourselves getting sun on the beach. Speaking of the beach, it is very large and the color of the sea water is spectacular. The waiters on the beach are great, getting you drinks whenever you need them and even serving you lunch right on the beach. Special thanks to waiters Miguel, Felictas and Betty. The only problem is the chaise lounges are very hard plastic and hurt your butt to sit on them after a few minutes. They definetely need to get softer chaise lounges or at least cushions to give you some padding.

Pina Colada restaurant on the beach gives you a great view of the sea while you enjoy breakfast or lunch. The food is great and the waiters are fun and friendly. Adan, Arnulfo and Enrigue are very experienced waiters who cater to you every wish. At night the Pina Colada becomes an Indonesian Restaurant with exotic and tasty dishes. The flagship resturant is an Italian place called Da Vincis. You need reservations here and must wear a collared shirt and long pants. They have a new menu here with a great mix of fish and meat dishes. The waiters Eduardo and Isacc are top notch. They were building a new steak taco restaurant called Viva Mexico while we were there which is probably open by now.

The Omni is a very clean Hotel with a beautiful big beach and great grounds. But what really sets this place apart is the great staff they have there. All of them are very nice with a very friendly attitude and speak English well. The Omni is lucky to have such great staff and should make sure they keep them as they are the engine the keeps this place going.

Room Tip: Ask for a ocean view room as the view is spectular.
