“Great Time”

The staff was very helpful here as they were always willing to help and answered all the questions we had. The food wasn't spectacular but it was good none the less.

I would suggest eating dinner at Marco Polo which has theme nights (ie: Italian, french, International etc.) you will have dress a little more formal for this place. The buffet at Fuentes had a decent variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner also had themes (ie: asian night, mexican, international, etc). Rosamarinus was only open when the weather was good as it is outdoors. We went here for lunch the last day there and to be honest.. the food provided at the main buffet was much better.

There is a snack bar by the pool with typical american snacks such as onion rings, fries, nachos, etc. but when you're swimming and lounging its basically the food you crave.

If you're lounging by the pool or on the beach they will serve you drinks but i would suggest tipping if you want them to come back faster, our "waiter" came back within 10 minutes 4 times with 4 different types of shots we didn't even ask for ! great guy!

Now Rooms, our room was clean loved the size too it was quite spacious. Do tip your house keeping staff cus they will create cute little towel animals for you!

ALL IN ALL loved it here and will def. be planning a trip back!

Room Tip: I would suggest upgrading to an ocean view.. you can try haggling a little as they dropped our upgra...

“Very nice trip!”

We just returned from a 5 day trip to this hotel and had a great time! We were upgraded to the Caribe side which was beautiful but a little noisy as we were right across from the lobby bar and the noise really carried. The staff was great and we enjoyed the entertainment. The buffet was not good, but the restaurants were very good so make sure to take the time to go. None of the ones we went to needed reservations which was nice. The chocolate martinis were amazing! Great service and great price, I highly recommend this hotel. After checking in we did have to meet with a man to " explain the hotel". He tried to get us to look at the other property, but we said we would think about it and we were never asked again. Make sure to walk around the grounds as each day we found something new. We also noticed our last day that we had a mini fridge in our dresser the whole time and never knew it. Our room had a free safe in it that did not require a key as it was electronic.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms around the lobby bars as it is very noisy.

Starting with the service....It was perfect! all the staff was friendly and helpful. the cleanliness of the hotel was beautiful. If I had a complaint it would be the noise, but i'm older than some and noise does bother me. Everything else was great.

Room Tip: if noise bothers you, stay on the lagoon side

“5 Star Service, 3 Star Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Just returned from a week at the Royal Solaris in Cancun. From the moment we stepped into the resort, we were impressed by the excellent staff. They were extremely friendly and always made sure you had everything you needed and made you feel welcome. I have been at many 5 star resorts and waited in many a line at the bar because the servers were no where to be found. I never lined up , the servers were always offering you beverage service. It didnt matter if you were in the lobby, by the pool, or on the beach.
The rooms are a little dated, but the maids work very hard to keep the rooms very clean. All the common areas are also very clean.
There is plenty of food, and you can always find something to eat. Italian night in the buffet was my favorite. Good pasta, and great deserts.
Beach is really nice, water was pretty warm for January., The pools were very clean.
We were never bothered by any of the time share people.
Nightlife is great in Cancun, the buses that run up and down the street are inexpensive and extremely convenient. I would definitely go back.

“VERYYYY Pleasant Surprise!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

As many of you do I read the reviews before we went and was a little concerned But I was very surprised. Our room was just ok. but we did not pay for an oceanview room so our expectations were not high. They NEVER offered for us to upgrade(thats ok because if I wanted to I would have asked them) They NEVER approached us about a timeshare!

The first day I left a note for the maid asking for bottled water in the room. We left tip each day and had plenty of water to make coffee, drink and brush our teeth. This surprised me that they did not automatically put water in the room.

We have been at many all inclusives and were impressed with the Royal Solaris. Food was great at the buffet. No reservations at Marco Polo but we always got in right away. Food was great there also. We went there at least 4 time in a 7 day visit. Ate at the restaurant by the beach for lunch. We did not care for the hamburger and hot dog place.

Drink service was excellent. Never had a problem nice bartenders and servers. We drink beer mostly and they had Dos XX and Sol on draft. We did have various mixed drinks and shot and they were all good.

Shows and entertainment staff were above average. We have been to some resorts that have some very boring shows but this property had some originals. All of entertainment staff were nice but we really enjoyed Victoria from Canada.

I would recommend this resort to anyone who can use their own mind to figure out how to be comfortable. The options are all there you just sometimes need to seek them out. If you expect "Plush" this resort is not for you. It is VERY clean and comfortable with many things above average. Didn't really understand the difference between people who were in the Caribe but we did not concern ourselves with what they got that we did not. They all seemed to want to hang out at our area more than their own. If you stay in the main building you are much closer to all activities. One more thing we were impressed with. The elevators were awesome. Very fast.

One thing that could be a minus is that the Air conditioning did not work. We were fine because it was not that hot at night but it could be a problem. Loved the fact that the window opened.

We loved our stay at the Royal Solaris and would go back if the price is right.

Room Tip: Make sure air works
