“Overall Good Vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Travel dates 02/09/12 to 02/12/12 - Resort is huge. Stayed in Grand Oasis (blank bands) - Do not do the 90 minute presentation. It turned into a 3 hour ordeal and the breakfast they take you to, while eating at the presentation, there was glass in the food. I felt something my teeth was crunching into, when i had spit it out in front of the employee doing the presentation, it was a piece of glass. They reported it and I never heard anything back from management.

Room - Air conditioner worked good, 2 double beds, comfortable and room was nicely decorated. No extra drawers to put stuff in so, you may have to live out of your suitcase. We had a beach front ocean view on 4th floor. Small balcony, but useable.

Food - I think what confused me the most was which restaurants needed reservations and long pants. I called the customer service to find this out about the brazilian place and she said no reservation but long pants required. Went there and saw people in shorts. No big deal, we ate and the food there was great. The best buffet place to eat at was the Market Place. Better selection of food and more variety.

Staff - I could see everyone working very hard making the grounds look good and constantly cleaning. Check-in was quick. Check out was long. The only complaint I have was one employee - Gustavo who worked at the Market Place who totally ignored us. We thought since it was morning breakfast, it would take a bit longer, so we approached him and finally got some drinks. but someone else had to keep telling him to check on us as well as to clear off the plates from our table because they were staking up.

VIP Lounge - good place to relax and have a drink. They even had cappucino's there and it was excellent.

Most of the young people stayed on one side of the pool and there is the beautiful beach and lots of chairs for you to use. We didnt have a problem finding any. The pool, is another issue. In going to breakfast around 8 each morning, i would see towels on top, so I guess you really need to get up early to save one.

For an excursion, we took a catamaran ride to isla mujeres. You leave the pier at 10am and get back at 5pm. The boat name was La Lupita. Crew was amazing and had a good time, with exception to some Italians who thought they owned the boat.

Met some great people from Canada and had fun with them. Even with the glass in the food, I would still visit this hotel again.

Room Tip: ask for ocean view Playa 1 or 2

“Wonderful Vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Just came back on the 11th 2012 We stayed in the pyramid section Our room was very nice ,balcony over looking the ocean and pools , sun rise etc stocked refrigerator daily. party section you could'nt hear if you were at the other end of the pool , entertainment all day long.. little skits everywhere, we loved the VIP lounge , and the extra's the black bracelet allows its worth it ..you can burn off some of the calories with all the walking area's they have on site. I really enjoyed the fresh popped pop corn at the pool.we were lucky NO rain the bad thing everyone gets up early to grab chairs by putting their towels on them and some never return to use them but that wasn't the hotels fault. Will try again

Room Tip: we had the central location rooms... remember you can go outside of the hotel for better prices on l...

“Great trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

My group of 4 people aged 24-26, stayed here between Jan 25 & Feb 1st. Generally our stay was great. In comparision to other all inclusives we stayed at this was by far the best. We had the black bracelets and in terms of services and choice of restuarants it was an A+. There was always lots to eat, the al la carte were excellent, service was always great with or without a tip and the food was delicious. The buffets were a little repetitive but there were so many other places to eat it did not matter.

The pool was gorgeous and there was a definately a party atmosphere with young adults which was great but one end of the pool always smelled like pee....

Drinks were great, just enough alcohol and lots of choices...if you have the black bracelet.

The one down side were the rooms. Worst rooms and bathrooms i have seen. Even motel rooms are better than these. We definately did not get one of the newer renovated rooms. They were small, dark, floor felt dirty...even though they cleaned it every day. The bathrooms were run down and felt old and dirty as well. There was contruction in the room above us but didnt start until much later in the day, but could get annoying if you wanted to nap in the afternoon.

The beach was gorgeous...but it was a red & yellow flag all week and at least 3 people had to be rescued in one day!

All in all, great trip and will def come back. This time though I think I would pay the extra for the upgraded rooms.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Stayed at the Grand Oasis (black bracelet) Feb 4 - 11, I am 24 (so this review is from a young persons perspective).

Had a great time from check in to check out. Rooms were clean and the mini bar was stocked with 2 beers, cokes, sprites, 1L waters, bag of chips and snickers bar daily. The room service was fast and the food was amazing (included for Grand Oasis guest). Nothing like a cheese cake after a night of clubbing :)

This resort had it all, plenty of entertainers and beautiful grounds/beach. The cleaning crew was in full effect 24/7, resulting in a nicely up-kept property. The clubs on the resort were not corny as most resort clubs are. The bartender at the Coyote Loco was intense! juggling flaming bottles and mixing drinks in mid air. Even the cover band was good. The other club - Up and Down Disco held a crazy foam party Thursday night, great experience.

On my side of the resort (near the club) the party was on 24/7, great music and a lot of beautiful ladies. The other side was more relaxed and very quiet.

Food - Loved it! was able to get reservations at the specialty restaurants every night. The buffets were good as well, loved the breakfast!

The bad:
I reserved a room with 2 double beds but ended up with 1 king bed. The front desk was quick to get us a cot. Unfortunately, they were not able to change the room at anytime during my stay as they were completely booked. I was pretty angry at first because I paid for 2 beds but decided not to let it bother me and just enjoy my time there. At the end of the day, its somewhere to sleep. I was hardly in my room anyways. This happened to a few people but honestly people tend to make mountains out of mole hills. RELAX and go to the beach!

----

Conclusion:
If your looking for a small close knit resort - this is not the place for you!
If your looking for a resort with a lot of people and want to party - don't look any further!

Looking up and down the beach of Cancun, the Grand Oasis was the only resort with more than 10 people on the beach. I met someone new everyday, everyone was super friendly!

The people mix - I would say 80% of the guest were Canadian, but we know how to party!

I will be returning as soon as possible!

VIVA MEXICO!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Hotel rooms need updating. The bathroom facilities were very old and the toilet didn't work for the first three days. Had to call maintenance at least 3 times a day. We had to wait for him each time and he only did a temporary fix each time. By the fourth day he had to replace the handle, it broke because it was so old. After that we had trouble getting bottles of water in our room, which was supposed to be replenished every day.
The hotel lobby gets very noisy around 3 a.m and 5 a.m. when people come in after a night of drinking and like to yell for fun because it echo's throughout the hotel.
When I booked the room I specifically asked if there would be a coffee maker in the room, Apple vacations said yes there is. When we got there the Apple rep said no coffee maker comes with our room.
I was really surprised at the Apple Representatives who kept pressuring us to buy tours at the airport and at the hotel....very disappointing. We will not be booking with Apple again or staying at the Grand Oasis again.

Room Tip: Looks beautiful on the outside and is clean, but old and needs updating.
