Travel dates 02/09/12 to 02/12/12 - Resort is huge. Stayed in Grand Oasis (blank bands) - Do not do the 90 minute presentation. It turned into a 3 hour ordeal and the breakfast they take you to, while eating at the presentation, there was glass in the food. I felt something my teeth was crunching into, when i had spit it out in front of the employee doing the presentation, it was a piece of glass. They reported it and I never heard anything back from management.
Room - Air conditioner worked good, 2 double beds, comfortable and room was nicely decorated. No extra drawers to put stuff in so, you may have to live out of your suitcase. We had a beach front ocean view on 4th floor. Small balcony, but useable.
Food - I think what confused me the most was which restaurants needed reservations and long pants. I called the customer service to find this out about the brazilian place and she said no reservation but long pants required. Went there and saw people in shorts. No big deal, we ate and the food there was great. The best buffet place to eat at was the Market Place. Better selection of food and more variety.
Staff - I could see everyone working very hard making the grounds look good and constantly cleaning. Check-in was quick. Check out was long. The only complaint I have was one employee - Gustavo who worked at the Market Place who totally ignored us. We thought since it was morning breakfast, it would take a bit longer, so we approached him and finally got some drinks. but someone else had to keep telling him to check on us as well as to clear off the plates from our table because they were staking up.
VIP Lounge - good place to relax and have a drink. They even had cappucino's there and it was excellent.
Most of the young people stayed on one side of the pool and there is the beautiful beach and lots of chairs for you to use. We didnt have a problem finding any. The pool, is another issue. In going to breakfast around 8 each morning, i would see towels on top, so I guess you really need to get up early to save one.
For an excursion, we took a catamaran ride to isla mujeres. You leave the pier at 10am and get back at 5pm. The boat name was La Lupita. Crew was amazing and had a good time, with exception to some Italians who thought they owned the boat.
Met some great people from Canada and had fun with them. Even with the glass in the food, I would still visit this hotel again.
