This was out first time traveling to Cancun. First let me say that two best things about Cancun were the Mexican people and the awesome beach at the sister resort, the Royal Sunset. First and foremost, none the reviews I have read reference the fact that guess what, the Ocean Spa Hotel IS NOT on the ocean. If you look at the photos on their website, it shows boat docks since it is on a very large bay but does not face the Caribbean. The hotel was not moldy or dirty as some reviews mention and the rooms were clean but did not have small fridge's or coffee makers which is typically a standard. We were talked into upgrading to the ALL INCLUSIVE package which was $120 per person per day which comprised a premium room, food, drinks and transportation to and from the airport. I only did that because I wanted to splurge for my wife and wanted what I thought was a direct oceanfront room. It is not on ocean so that was a waste and the food, was at best....FAIR. The Mexican restaurant off the lobby is only open for dinner the poolside restaurant IS NOT AIRCONDITIONED. We ordered steak for our first meal which was like trying to cut marinated shoe leather with a butter knife. I could go on but won't but the food did not get much better from there. My wife and I regrouped after our initial dissapointment and ended up having a GREAT TIME in Cancun. We took the city bus every day which was almost as good as "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride". If we go to Cancun again, we would definitely stay on "THE STRIP" which is where the oceanfront resorts are. I won't condemn the Ocean Spa but If we did it all over again, we would have had a better time if we stuck with the basic plan from Sam's Club was was a great deal. At one dinner at the Royal Sunset, we were at the outdoor pavilion for a show which had folding tables but nice linen table cloths, runners, glassware etc. However, when trying to cut my pork chop, I had to put so much pressure on my plate with the butter knife that the entire table was swaying back and forth with each sawing motion with my knife that I thougt the table was gonna collapse.
