My husband and I stayed here for our 5th anniversary last weekend. My parents had attended a timeshare presentation in Michigan and were given a voucher for the Ocean Spa Hotel as their "free gift" for attending. Because of this we were not required to attend the sales presentation.
The Positives:
- It was clean. The room wasn't fancy by any standard, and was a little run down, but it was very clean.
- the bed was fairly comfortable, would have benefitted from memory foam, but we both slept well.
- it was safe, at no time did we feel in danger of having anything stolen, we kept valuables in the in room safe and were very comfortable that everything was protected. When we went swimming, no one bothered our things that we left on the chairs on the beach.
- the shuttle service was a blessing, we used it regularly. We also took advantage of the ability to eat at the other properties.
Could have been better:
- the buffet was disappointing. Though they did have a nice variety of fresh fruit at every meal. I am vegetarian so found the options very limited. We ate out at a restaurant downtown at least once a day where I could trust what was "in" the food. The breakfasts were not bad here, though they were better at the other properties. We paid about $500 extra for the all inclusive plan, if we ever go to Cancun again we probably won't choose an all inclusive.
-the rooms were bare bone, we were disappointed that our "Ocean View" was blocked by tennis courts. Wish there had at least been one rug on the floor, we put down towels in front of the vanity, the tile floor was so hard.
- location was far from much of the shopping areas. And far from our favorite restaurant, this was helped somewhat though with the shuttle service. We did take full advantage of the shuttles.
Overall, we had a great time, but would likely never choose this property again.
