I stayed at the Marina Club with a group of friends for Spring Break. We weren't looking for a 5 star resort, but we did want a clean, safe place to stay. We booked through a student travel site, and the pictures and information about the place looked very nice (for the price of course).
We arrived in Cancun around midnight, and it took about 3 hours to get to the hotel because we got shoved on a charter bus that made 100 stops on the way to our hotel. When we arrived, we immediately had our doubts about the place. The rooms were humid, damp, and dirty. The air conditioner did not work, the crack under the door was easily an inch or larger, and the door itself was like a thin closet door. There was no hot water at all, the bath tub did not drain and was disgusting, the towels and bedding never seemed clean, and the list goes on.
We had booked a week and actually left the hotel (paid) on day 2 and found another place to stay for the rest of the week. It cost us all an extra 100 dollars of spending money to find a new place, but it was well worth it to have a/c, hot water, clean bedding, and an ocean view.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It was awful.
