Temptations is what it is. First of all it is not as it has been labeled as a "swingers" resort. This is no Desire or Hedo. There is topless women and lots of sexy fun, and I'm sure there are people hooking up, but it is not a swingers resort. Temptations is not a 5 star resort, but it is very good. We have been twice and will go back. It is probably a 3.5 star place, and for the price is a very good deal. I don't understand all of the negative reviews on here. We talked to many people that have been here 10+ times and keep coming back. Is it perfect ? NO. It's a 3.5. The price makes this place well worth it. We stayed 6 days and 5 nights plus airfare was only $1600.00. A bargain. The resort was
85% full and everyone was having a great time. There are good and not so good things about this or any resort. I've been to Sandals and Beaches and Temptations rates at least as good or better than those. Below is a list of good and not so good. I'm not going to list all the good things and services at Temptations. Go to their website and they give all the daily activities etc.
GOOD
1. The pools are awesome. ( They are open 8a.m to 9 p.m.) they do not close at 5 p.m. as some people have said.
2. The activities. There are many from horseshoes to volleyball and basketball to sexy pool games. Something for everyone.
3. The rooms are all remodeled and are very nice.( The beds are firm to hard ) We were told we could get a gel pad that fits on the bed, but we we always so tired that the bed was fine for us. Our room A/C was ice cold and it did not smell like some on here have said. We brought air freshener, but did not need it. The refridgerator is stocked with beer, soda, and water free of charge and replaced each morning.
4. The food. A lot has been said on here about the food. I suppose if you are here 7 to 10 days it could get old, but we stayed 3 days the first time and 5 days this trip, so the food didn't get old to us. Since the hotel wasn't 100% full no reservations were required at the restaurants. You just showed up and gave them your room number. There is a liberal dress code. No sleeveless shirts and no pool flip-flops or swimsuits. Other than that you are ok. for the most part. They have an Italian,Chinese,Tex-Mex and Up scale restaurants that are all above average to excellent. The buffet is set up for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. There is typical buffet selections for all 3. Temptations has guests from all over the world, so they try to cater to all people.
5. No kids. All adult. We love kids we have 3 of our own. We take them on vacation each year, but we also want to be able to spend time away from them and any other kids that might be around. The people at this resort were in their 20's to 50's. Both times we ahve been here it was a great ,fun crowd. No drama and lots of happy people.
6. Topless resort. My wife loves to sunbathe topless. In most parts of the world this is a non issue. In Oklahoma and most of the U.S. this is frowned upon. At Temptations you can be topless and no one really cares. About 75% of the women are in fact topless at times during the day.
7. The staff. They all work hard to make sure you have a great vacation. If you need something, just ask.
8. Go on the Friday booze cruise. It was great.
Not so good.
1. They do try to sell time shares to the resort and use different tactics to get you to their seminars. Offers of free anything should be a tip to avoid them. Simply tell them you are not interested and they will leave you alone.
2. Nighttime activities are limited because they want you to go out with them on their nightly club trips. ( they are fun, but cost and get old after 1 or 2 nights ).
3. The ocean. You are on the Gulf of Mexico side, so the ocean is green and not ocean blue like on the other side, but they work hard to keep the seaweed cleaned up off the beach and we enjoyed the beach activities alot.
4. Tipping. I did tip sometimes, but to be honest, I didn't notice service to be any better or worse than when you tipped or didn't.
5. The alchohol. The drinks were fine with us. She drinks mixed drinks and I stuck to beer or the occasional margarita. People on here complain that the drinks are weak. Of course they are a little weak. People are drinking from sun-up to sun-down. They are trying to save you from yourself. If you want a stronger drink, just tell them and they will make it as strong as you like.
6. Like I said earlier the beds are firm to hard. If you need a soft bed to sleep, you could be in trouble.
7. The O'Pattys bar in the middle of the resort is going strong from 6 p.m. until about
4 a.m. Loud music and lots of people having loud fun. We had a room right next to the bar and with the t.v and a/c on you could barely hear it, but you still could at times. If you don't want to be around this, make sure you request to be in the quiet section of the resort.
We like Temptations and we will come back. Hopefully soon.
