The Radisson is overall a good hotel. However, travelers should be aware of a few potential issues. After 5 calls in one day to the front desk (all of which were answered promptly) because my bathroom and bedside lights would go out and not come back on; it was finally relayed that the lights are supposed to be movement triggered. Unfortunately, once they go off, I have to open my hotel room door, widely (Room 416), to get them to come back on.
Regrettably, my stay in Cancun was extended for business reasons and I got caught in 4-5 consecutive days of rain. Be aware that the hotel is like a courtyard. Most rooms on all three floors face an outdoor courtyard that overlooks the pool. That entire "hallway and walkway is tiled. These floors are very slippery and we and they get very et as the wind blows the rain in. This is not an enclosed courtyard until you are in the lobby/elevator side of the hotel and you must pass through the exposed sides of the walkway to reach it unless you take the stairs. Be careful what you wear on your feet as these title floors are very slippery. There are occasional yellow caution signs posted but there were places where you could see that water are come in and were not so noted. Also, if you are in a room like mine facing the courtyard, and I’m diagonally face it, .my door moves with the wind from the courtyard despite having the deadbold lock on.
The restaurant and bar staff is very nice and work very hard. I was most disappointed however, offended really, when on a slow rainy Sunday, I went down to the largely empty restaurant for a late lunch. I did not want to order the larger buffet or a full entree off the menu but only tortillas, guacamole, salsa and beans. I was told that I could not eat that in the restaurant and had to eat it in the lobby.
The waiter idid check with management and they said Icould eat there after al but after that I really have no intention of setting foot in there again. I'm a professional, reasonably dressed older woman and that just did not sit right with me.
