“Good hotel for downtown cancun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011 via mobile

Overall hotel was fine although looked more impressive on the website. Could have done with some modernisation and redecoration. Staff were helpful although there was no one there to help with tourist information and front desk were incorrect about a few things re sights to see and how long it takes to get to places.

Room key had to be reprogrammed each day.

Didn't use pool but looked good.

Very little to do near hotel and very few restaurants to choose from at night.

Room was fine. Upgraded to a junior suite although I would not describe it as a suite!

Breakfast was an extra but was a good selection. Probably overpriced at 15 dollars.

Needed to change hotels for a start of a tour and checked out earlier than I was going to as there was no safe at reception and didn't want to leave my passport in my case in their luggage storage room. There was a safe though in the room.

“Basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

A basic hotel. Very noisy (outside + inside), broken airconditioning, no hot water in some rooms, restaurant very minimal,...

Nothing compared to the (luxurious) hotels you would normally suspect in Cancun.

Wouldn't recommend if staying more than one night.

“Odd lights, Wet Floors, and Strange Seating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

The Radisson is overall a good hotel. However, travelers should be aware of a few potential issues. After 5 calls in one day to the front desk (all of which were answered promptly) because my bathroom and bedside lights would go out and not come back on; it was finally relayed that the lights are supposed to be movement triggered. Unfortunately, once they go off, I have to open my hotel room door, widely (Room 416), to get them to come back on.

Regrettably, my stay in Cancun was extended for business reasons and I got caught in 4-5 consecutive days of rain. Be aware that the hotel is like a courtyard. Most rooms on all three floors face an outdoor courtyard that overlooks the pool. That entire "hallway and walkway is tiled. These floors are very slippery and we and they get very et as the wind blows the rain in. This is not an enclosed courtyard until you are in the lobby/elevator side of the hotel and you must pass through the exposed sides of the walkway to reach it unless you take the stairs. Be careful what you wear on your feet as these title floors are very slippery. There are occasional yellow caution signs posted but there were places where you could see that water are come in and were not so noted. Also, if you are in a room like mine facing the courtyard, and I’m diagonally face it, .my door moves with the wind from the courtyard despite having the deadbold lock on.

The restaurant and bar staff is very nice and work very hard. I was most disappointed however, offended really, when on a slow rainy Sunday, I went down to the largely empty restaurant for a late lunch. I did not want to order the larger buffet or a full entree off the menu but only tortillas, guacamole, salsa and beans. I was told that I could not eat that in the restaurant and had to eat it in the lobby.
The waiter idid check with management and they said Icould eat there after al but after that I really have no intention of setting foot in there again. I'm a professional, reasonably dressed older woman and that just did not sit right with me.

“Convenient one-nighter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

Had two separate one-night stays both of which suited our needs. The staff were efficient, friendly and, given our minimal Spanish, were in the main competent in English. The room was clean and comfortable - no frills but OK.

The hotel was well placed for nearby places to eat which we chose in preference to the rather soulless hotel restaurant. One breakfast in the hotel was reasonable, although my mushroom omelette was a rather unappetisng grey splodge. On our second visit we had to miss our breakfast due to an early departure (prior to the 7.30am breakfast start). The option of a simple packed breakfast would have been appreciated.

“Nice hotel in downtown Cancun”

We always stop at this hotel on our way to and from Yucatan, Mexico. Location is great as it is close to main bus station from which one can get to many places. Grounds are very nice, especially the courtyard with tropical plants and pool. Food in the restaurant is decent. Recommend to try sopa de lima (chicken lime soup). They are famous for Sunday branch buffet with many local delicacies available. However this summer (June 2011) buffet was much smaller with less dishes offered. Rooms are usually clean and comfortable. For smokers - they still have smoking rooms which is becoming rare find.

Room Tip: Rooms facing courtyard have little balconies with view of the pool area. However, if door facing noi...
