“Ok for budget short stay, not for entire holidays”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The hotel is located right in the centre of Cancun's night life area which is fine if that's what you are looking for. There were many young mexicans staying there for a short break to visit Coco Bongo and other nightclubs nearby. So be prepared for lots of noise..
We originally booked standard double room but had to upgrade (at $10 per day) to a room with a full kitchen and that made our stay bearable as we booked this hotel for 2 weeks. We normally go on all inclusive holidays, however this time we've decided to save up on accomodation and that was a big mistake!
Cancun is not a nice place at all to be, you'll be harrased all the time when you pass by a restaurant, tour seller or junk stalls. Even walk to the beach from Clipper club has been a nightmare because of a hassle we've got from people trying to sell us all sort of things.
Eating out is not as cheap as you'd think and you'll end up no better off than staying in nice all inclusive hotel but save yourself lots of trouble.
As a bit of a warning, we used ATMs on the street on the way to the beach and one of our debit card was cloned so we've ended up cancelling all cards we used in Mexico.
So as a conclusion, if you are looking for a quiet holidays Clipper club is not a place to be but on the opposite if you come to discover Cancun's night life and don't want to splash on accomodation this is a perfect stay.

Room Tip: Definetely go for a room with full kitchen, you'll get much more space than std double. Full kit...

“Great place to stay when on a budget in Cancun”

This is a great place to stay for those on a budget, if you want luxury this is not the place. Stayed here for two nights, and was perfectly happy with the accomodations, great rooms, and great location. Close to the happenings in Cancun, and for the price I was happy to walk the 400 meters to the beach. Wifi in the lobby, beachtowels, AC, only downside was no minifridge in the room.

“Great location but cleanliness is not enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We stayed for 3 days at this place. It is in the heart of the Cacun's most happening club area, a block away from the party street where all the clubs are. The rooms were nice and the pool area and the restaurant was great. My only concern with this place was they do not change the bath towels or linens for 3 days of your stay. You need to pay extra if you needed fresh towels everyday. Com'on you are in Mexico where its cheap and this hotel isn't dirt cheap, yes i give it to the location but pay for fresh towels everyday, they must be kidding right!! We were super annoyed when they charged us for a small stain on the pillow cover which can easily be washed away. Another concern that we had was the wireless doesnt work in the room and they claim it works in the pool and lobby area. But for the 3 days we stayed it never worked and we had to pay to use the computer in the lobby area. It was like 1 peso per min but com'mon they are supposed to mention that while you are booking. well, looks like this is how they make money in Mexico.

“Cancun on a budget”

Last February we decided to take the entire family to Cancun so needed at least three rooms. As this is high season there beach facing hotels can be very expensive so we searched for something economical. Thanks to Orbitz we were led to the Cancun Clipper. This hotel seems to have been built as apartments that didnt sell as each building has seperate entrances, it was inconvenient to have three rooms in seperate buildings however the low price more than made up for it. The location of the hotel is very convenient to the bars and discos, so-so for the beach, The occupants seemed to be older Americans who came down yearly for long stays., There was a pleasant pool and a limited menu at the restaurant., the included continental breakfast was rather sad but alacarte was OK. We had a couple of rental cars to explore more of the area, the hotel doesnt offer much in the way of activity Our rooms were a bit cramped but we were happy enough. If youre looking for an inexpensive place this will definitely be a good place for you but dont expect any frills.
