“Was OK for a short visit”

Was accompanying my wife (there for business) for a long weekend.

Eventhough other reviews have mentioned this: there is major construction at the hotel next door, and you get to hear the jackhammers, pounding, drilling, etc. AND when we were there, there was construction from parts of the Le Meridien itself--right below our room and that was really noisy. But, with that said, it was really annoying/unbearable for only 1 afternoon of our stay.

The staff is wonderfully attentive and nice. Food at breakfast is good. Food in the poolside restaurant is not that good; it takes a really long time to arrive and hot food arrives cold-ish. Food is pretty expensive, and not a good value (especially at the poolside restaurant).

Facilities are great. Nice pools, great beach.

Overall--nice place to stay. And, if you can get a discount (like one of the other reviewers), then probably really great!

“You get what you pay for...”

We purchased a room at the LeMeridian Cancun off of Hotwire, and thus were unaware of the name of the resort until we arrived. The room was deeply discounted, and here's why.

There is MAJOR construction going on next door, and all day by the pool we heard drilling, banging, and other fabulous construction noises. There's also facelift type things going on inside the LeMeridian, which actually caused us to be without an elevator our first day. The bellhop took us up a tiny service elevator upon arrival.

All in all, don't do it until it's confirmed that the construction is over. The staff is apathetic, the food is pricy and average, and it is in NO WAY a 4.5 star as advertised.

Room Tip: Rooms on the left side of the hotel are away from construction.

“Very, very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Very clean, a remarkable staff that truly wants the tourist to be happy. Beautiful sand beaches. Here's the negatives:
1) if you're not happy with your room, you need to be persistent; "ocean view" is subjective; being able to "see" the ocean is NOT the same thing as an ocean view. I can "see" my TV set from another room, but I can only "view" it when in front of it. Make sense? They will change your room, but you have to make it a priority to nag them, as they will forget your request unless it's delivered daily, sometimes hourly.
2) it's in the hotel district, so it's not within walking distance of really anything authentic.
while the hotel food is good, it is expensive. the good news is their bus system is superb, and you can catch a bus very inexpensively, all the time.
Bottom line, it's a beautiful hotel and experience.
Here's a negative that has nothing to do with hotel, but everything to do with the Mexico experience:
When you arrive at the airport DO NOT TALK TO ANYONE and head straight for the exit.
There are hoards of time share people just waiting for you.
You are bait for sharks. They will tell you that they are your driver, anything to get you to stop.
Get out of the airport as quickly as possible. Your pickup connection (Grey line is recommended) will know your name.
It's sad, but the Mexican government is corrupt and will let time share parasites operate in the airports because they pay them a big cut of the fraud.
Hope this helps someone.
Le Meridien, and Cancun are recommended!!!

“we were satisfied”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I have stayed here for 4 nights and i was worried about all previous bad reviews. I am glad I gave it a try. The customer service was excellent from the front desk, doorman, concierge and all the staffs we met. The 3 pools are very nice and it's so accessible to the beach. It's true that the new construction building next door blocks the sun for our pool but you can alway move around to lay out. The room is very clean but the furniture is a little old but tolerable. There was some noise from the construction right across from our room but you would only hear it when we opened our balcony door. We had dinner at Aioli and it's so delicious and the price was so reasonable. It's at a more quiet location but it's 10 mins walk to the bus station and with 18 peso pp, it would get you to the closest mall.

Room Tip: choose the high floor, closer to the beach side

“Real average)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This hotel was chosen becaused we just stayed Le Meridian at London, and there was lowered price deal. Well, first thing we saw coming in- there is a consruction nearby. And that building is much more higher, so the pool area stays in shadow almost for the hole day. Check in took 25 minutes!!!! The same guy made check out for our friends for half an hour. The hotel is not bad itself, but need some renovation. Room is quite big, very clean. By the way, first we've been given with a room without balcony, with a construction view named "partial sea view", but that situation was solved by my wife. There is a very good GYM, but there are too crowdy, because locals use it. Beach is good. Bar inside is very cute, but loosy choice of drinks, so no JACK, no Zacapa, no PYRAT or even Havana 7 I used to drink on Carribean. There are some sunbeds with holes, needing to be repaired near the pool) You have to pay for the breakfast. Vallet if free and well operated. WIFI is not free and works very badly at rooms. (tried 311 and 429). To tell the truth I wouldn't recommend if you just see Meridian sign and go expecting smth extraordinary.
