“It really is the best beach in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Stayed here with my wife the week before Xmas. They aren't lying when they say the beach is the best. We walked up the beach to all of the neighboring hotels and, though many of them appeared more luxurious than the IC in terms of the building, the beaches could not compare. The IC Beach has the best white sand, is the widest, and the water is gorgeous turquois. The other nearby hotels had very crowded beaches and the sand was more like brown/light brown.

The open air restaurant on the beach was great for lunch and the portions were big enough to share. We had the Guac and chips every day.

Our room was upgraded due to being platinum. We got one of the renovated rooms on the 6th floor/club level and this was great. I'm not sure what this would cost otherwise, but it's worth the expense.

Fitness center was okay. Concierge staff was very helpful. We took the bus a few times and although it seems safe, if you are looking to take it outside of the hotel zone and don't speak spanish, it can be a real challenge to determine which stop to get off. The drivers that we had were not helpful and they will try to rip you off if you give them US Dollars. In one instance we gave a $20 for the 18 peso far for two and received back maybe 100 pesos which is not even $10. Cabs are not that expensive and if you negotiate the fare in advance I would say it is worth the extra expense.

Room Tip: Club Level/6th floor is a must-do

“Excellent hotel and beautiful beach!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

I recommend a club room... you get continental breakfast and evening canapés and the use of the lovely club lounge which we thoroughly enjoyed. Stayed for 6 nights during the Christmas holiday and found the hotel (renovated room) to be very comfortable and clean. Service was excellent, staff in the Club was outstanding and friendly at all times. The beach was amazing, clean and always well staffed. The (big) negative was the "echo chamber" hallways with the marble floors. A strip of carpeting would be a welcome improvement. The children crying and running up and down the halls every morning woke us up at 7am. Water replacement in the room was inconsistent, had to pay for the coffee and the wifi. However, we will be back, will ask for a room farther down the hall. The view from our balcony of the beach and the water was a beautiful site to enjoy any time of the day. A good value! (Would definitely have given this hotel a 5 star except for the noise in the hallways).

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor for the beautiful view of the beach and water!

“Nice beach, rooms but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

It took 1.5 hours to checkin and have the room keys on hand. They were pretty busy around
xmas time. In return, they gave me complimentary drinks and 1 hour late checkout.
We had water in the bathroom floor along with hair on checkin. It took 2 phone calls and
one visit to the front desk and 30 minutes later, there was someone to clean up.

We stayed for 2 nights and loved the decor of the rooms, the nice pool and the great beach.
We did not dine in the restaurants, since they were pretty pricey and not value.
There is no kids club and this was unacceptable, since many a resorts in this class offer one
daily. My kids were disappointed. There is no free wifi, but the computers in the business center are free to use. But i would be worried about data security when accessing sensitive
financial information. Overall, good rooms and a bit pricey. Will do it again if i have to, but
i guess we will pass Cancun for good and will stay much south. Our stay in Bel-air Xpu Hu
was great value for money and a fantastic locaiton. Wished we had stayed there the entire
time instead of heading north to Cancun.

Room Tip: The room facing the street/parking lot or the room facing the ocean are all great. You won't go...

“not a luxury hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

pros- hotel had all nice refurbished rooms which are modern sleek and clean. very spacious and nice interiors however they lack a balcony.
the beach is quite nice with white sand and calm waters.
within walking distance from the cancun town centre, so you can eat at other places if u dont want to eat at the hotel

cons- the hotel layout and feel does not make u feel like your staying in a luxury hotel, the lobby and pool areas are quite old and outdated.
front desk staff are not very welcoming or friendly, its like they dont want to be there and cant be bothered working
internet is NOT included and extremely expensive around $21US a day!!!
we got a wallet stolen from our suitcase, lucky it was an old one and only had 1 credit card and some money in it.

Room Tip: definitely pay the extra for the ocean view room, very worth it since your in cancun for the beach!

“Good and Bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We stayed at this hotel for five nights before Christmas. The Caribenos restaurant is an outstanding value and the staff are very friendly. The hotel rooms are very clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. Unfortunately the marble halls are echo chambers, so the hotel needs to put down a wide carpet strip. The coffe/tea makers in the room are a joke and need to be replaced!!

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise from talkers outside the hotel.
