“Amazing Experience - Can't Say Enough Good Things!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I just wrapped up a 10 day business trip to Cancun, Mexico and stayed at the Westin Resort & Spa. I honestly can't say enough good things about this resort. When my colleague and I did a site visit in October, we knew from the moment we arrived that this would be the destination for our company meetings. We were greeted by the entire staff, treated to lunch and then inspected the property. We met with Madaly and Laura and I can't thank them enough for the incredibly hard work and long hours that went into pulling together our programs.

We hosted three different meetings over the course of ten days. Each meeting had different requirements that Madaly and Laura bent over backwards to assist us with. We were also introduced to Yasmin and Carlos who assisted us in every way possible when it came to hosting our meals. They were incredible and I would strongly suggest you request them to host your events. We were also introduced to Daniel and Eric from Av and they met every audio/visual need we had...and there were plenty of audio/video requirements we had!

I wrapped up my trip with a massage at the Heavenly Spa and was treated to one of the finest, most relaxing and incredible massages I've ever had...all thanks to Dalia. If you stay at this resort, and chose to take advantage of the spa facilities, you MUST request Dalia for your massage. After 10 days of meetings, she was able to work out every bit of stress that I had built up.

“Far from the city but beautifull beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

Like I read before arriving the hotel is small (for cancun), but the common areas like the pool and the beach are great beautifull view. The room was big with no luxury but comfortable, the service good for the hotel price, the only problem was that the hotel is far away from the rest of the hotels and civilization so if you want anything after 10 pm you will have a problem.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Lot of negative reviews but with priceline bidding the cost was nothing. We were a family of three and stayed for 5 days with 2 year old. Felt really safe to catch the bus after dark to travel all around the hotel zone/walmart.

Pro's
1. Nice beach and not crowded
2. Got upgraded to Ocean View room
3. Close to bus stop and it's the last stop. Some hotels on the hotel zone involves some steep walking to get to Bus station.
4. Front desk, people at front door, room cleaning everyone was wonderful.
5. Have a lower expectation and you will be surprised.

Con's
1. Everything is far way (Note: cost of bus is 8.5 pesos irrespective of where you start and end in hotel zone as well as to Walmart)
2. Have to catch the bus or taxi (didn't try it though) if you are planning to eat outside.
3. Food in hotel zone is expensive(except a place we tried called Surfin burrito @ 9.5 km...food was ok)
4. No balcony (Balcony is there for 6th floor and 1st floor, in between they have a open able decent size windows

“Roulette 5-star reviews unfair to this resort.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

First off, I've been to 50 Westins and although this resorts facilities don't rank up with the newer ones, it's not fair to hammer the place for not being a 5-star resort. Roulette ranks them improperly, and that is their fault, not the Westin's. If I were the Westin I would ask Roulette to drop them to a 3.5 star or possibly 4-star and that would take some of the fire out of the reviewers.

Other comments:
1. As an SPG member, they upgraded me and I took another step up to the Royal property side with free b-fast and drinks. It's worth the extra points.
2. If you like quiet, this place is for you. We love quiet, so it was perfect for us.
3. Beach area is great. It's not very wide, but areas around pools are very good. Service is fantastic. I really won't complain.
4. I'd say this place would be a 3-star Sheraton by room quality. The quiet beach of the end of the strip definitely kicks it up to 4-star quality.
5. If you book SPG or priceline, you'll pay less than just about anywhere else on the zone. People should factor in the value/cost of the hotel room before hammering it. Is it 5-star like some of the other properties on the strip? No way. But those other places are paying $300 a night and here you pay less than a third of that. Have some perspective.
6. Food is just OK. I write food reviews and they made no attempt to woo me or even let me sample different entrees. I almost gave this property a 3 over the food quality and service but the service was so good on the Royal side, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. However, I must say this. It's almost unfair to the Westin Lagunamar to give this place a 4 and them a 5 b/c Lagunamar is MUCH nicer than just 1 star more. If I could give a 3.5 rating, I would.

Room Tip: The Royal Beach club is a half-step up from the rest of the hotel. I'd say it's worth $50 e...

“Excellent Food Very Quiet”

We booked for 7 days and loved the hotel. Our room was on the ocean side but either would offer a terrific view. The beds and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom could due with some updating and I was a little disappointed in the cleanliness of the bathroom and floor areas. There were lots of lounge chairs so need to wake up at 6:00am just to find a spot. The food was amazing always fresh and plenty of it. The only problem was at nighttime. The one available bar closed at 1200am. Im not one for big shows But they could at least offer a live local band or DJ some music.
