We stayed at Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa 4/8/2012 to 4/12/2012. This was our first trip to Cancun, so i really dont have anything to compare Dreams to in Cancun, but i don't see any need to compare it to any other resort. We look forward to coming back to Cancun and this is the only place we will stay when we do! No need to look any further!! Dreams has it all!! The views here are breath taking!! Crystal clear aqua/blue water. Beautiful rooms, equiste food and excellent entertainment! The only thing we would change is a longer stay, i definattley feel you need at least a week here at Dreams, we were so sad to leave!
About our stay: We booked through Apple Vacations, which gave us peace of mind, air fare, all inclusive resort and hotel transfers included. Outside of the airport a van was waiting for us to take us straight to Dreams, we got in the van with 2 other people who were going to Dreams as well, took approximatley 25 min to get to Dreams from the airport, as we arrived to Dreams we were greeted by a Dreams employee who greeted us with" Welcome Home"! And he was right, that would be my home for the next 4 days! We went right to check in, we were then greeted with a bottle of water for each of us! We arrived approximatley an hour and half earlier then check in time, but they had a room available. Only thing is that they did not have a King size bed available they only had 2 double beds, i was a little dissapointed as we are a couple, it was strange to sleep in seperate beds. However they were able to change our room the next day. We stayed on 2nd floor on the dolphin lagoon side. In my opinion these are the best rooms! Everyone has their own opinion in reference to the dolphins, but who doesnt like to watch dolphins play right outside your room? Every free moment we were in our room i would step outside the balcony to watch the dolphin show in the morning and then at night before dinner and before we went to bed. If you leave the balcony door closed you dont hear the dolphins at all, one night we left it open and we enjoyed listening to them belly flop around the lagoon. We thought it was awesome, and we are in our 30's, so im sure kids would love it too! We did not swim with them, as we swam with dolphins in florida, did not feel the need to do it again, but if you never have done it, then definattley do it here at Dreams! Its an experience of a lifetime!!!
The day we got to Dreams, we changed right into our swimsuits and went right to the smaller beach where the water is alot calmer, this beach is awesome, we snorkled around and were pleasantly surprised to see some fish in this area. As we relaxed on the beach, we got to meet for the first time Jorge the waiter from the Sugar Reef beach bar. Jorge is the best, we just loved him, always there with a smile and continually bringing you any drink you want! We miss him so much! Before dinner that night we walked in to the market and bar areas to do a little souvenier shopping, " Watch these guys", i didn't even have time to think what i wanted, they all surround you like horse flies! They all want you to spend your money at there stores! Don't ever pay what they are asking, they will deal with you and if one won't the next guy will. After that mayham, we decided not to walk in to that area again. Everyone said to experience Coco Bongo, but we just didn't have the time to, maybe next time. We came back to the resort and ate at Seaside grill for dinner that night and we both got the rib eye steak, this was delicious! We stayed up late at the swing bar and drank and met some new people from our area!
Day 2 my boyfriend booked a fishing trip with the hotel, he had a great time, caught fish the whole time, as he was off doing that i took advantage of a massage on the beach! The spa is very tranquil and relaxing! A must! We usually ate breakfast every morning at the buffet which had anything you can think of for breakfast! We also took advantage of room service, kind of small selection but it was great to order at any time! We ate dinner that night at Oceano's, my boyfriend had the chef make one of his fish he had caught and i had the Filet Mignon. Very good!!!! Oceano's also has very good cheescake and apple struddel with ice cream.
Day 3 we booked a snorkel tour from David at the beach, this was a reasonable $35.00 tour which lasted about an hour and you took a boat off the resorts pier a couple miles off the beach to a very nice reef, we got to see many colorful fish. We came back and swam in the pool and my boyfriend enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball with some of the kids in the pool as i relaxed on a float, we then had lunch at Oceano's, he had the grouper i think, and i had a chicken breast stuffed with vegetables, mmmm delicious!! After lunch we finally go to take a stroll around the back of the hotel, we got to see at least 20 iguana's sun bathing on the rocks, on this side you get to see the amazing colors of the water and listen to the ocean crash up against the rocks, we decided to walk back to the smaller beach and spend the rest of the day there again, we met some new people and had dinner with them at Hiamitsu, another great place to eat! We dont eat Sushi, but we did have chicken fried rice, chicken spring roll's and sweet and sour chicken. All very good!
Day 4 was all about relaxtion since it was our last day there, we went to breakfast, the pool, the beach, seaside grill for dinner, had awesome rib eye tacos, back to the beach and then went back to the room to get ready to go see a circus show next door at Desires, after the show we went to Oceano's for dinner again!!! I guess Oceano's and Seaside Grill was our favorite restaurants, we didn't feel like we had enough time to try the mexican restaurant next door, and kept hearing mixed reviews. We also never tried the buffett for dinner, so i can't comment on what that is like. They say you dont have to tip, but we certainly did everytime we were being waited on, the staff was very appreciative. And they work very hard to make everything grand for you!
All in all, the resort is just amazing! I spoke to Nadia the concierge a few times via: facebook and she was very helpful answering my questions. Our room was very clean, and comfortable, the decor was very pretty, and the views were just unbelievable! The food was very good, the staff were all very nice and our time spent here was exceptional! We will definattley be back!! Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa is our home away from home!! We miss you everyday! Thank you for a wonderful vacation.
