“Fantastic rooms with plenty of space. Very well located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

We spend a full week at this place and had a wonderfull time. The beach is across the street, so you are not in the beach but 2 minutes walking from it, so it worked fine for us because we did not have to pay outrageous beach resort prices. The place is silent at night so it was a pleasure so sleep there. I can not recall in my life a better place where a rested. The beds are all king and high and the room was very large, which travelling with 2 teneegers was very convenient. The bath has some semi privacy issues that did not bother us, but we heard that they are enclosing them as we apparently are not so liberal as the europeans and they were telling us that as many guests were feeling unconfortable they have decided to close them in opaque glass. The maid was outstanding in leaving a perfect clean room. Perhaps we missed a restaurant at the hotel but as there is so many places around it was ok.

“Budget hotel aspiring for more”

This is a weird place. Feels a little like sleeping in the mall. There is even elevator music chiming all night long outside your room. I wonder if each room was once a store. This would explain the layout. Just one long open space, no privacy in the bathroom and a floor to ceiling window facing the abandoned mall.

It isn't bad, just a weird place. The location is good, the beds are comfy and the rooms are clean. It feels like a hotel experiment that isn't quite thought out.

If you are a business traveler this place would work. There are no amenities, just the basics and internet. If you're on vacation and needed to come to Cancun, I'd try one of the resorts.

“Friendly people and nice environment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2010

Hi everybody! If you are planning to go to Cancun, Mayafair Design Hotel is a very good place to stay in. It is inspired in Fashion designers and each room takes the name of a designer or famous people. The Mayafair Design Hotel is just in the centre of the boulevard, you have everything at hand. If you are going to a convention, it is 5 minutes walking distance to the Cancun Convention Centre. Lourdes and Jazmin are the nicest and most friendly receptionists I have ever met. And the best of all. IT HAS REASONABLE PRICES Here is the website http://www.mayafair.com/
Just in case, My room was Louis Vuitton, the one you'll see on the website home page. Thanks a lot Lourdes and Jazmin for being so helpful, kind and friendly.

“When Design comes only with the name of each room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2010

First of all, hotel accurate name as of Dec 2009 is Mayafair DESIGN Hotel.
Each room is named after a fashion designer. Thank god we got an incredibly low rate through Hotwire and were staying only for 1 night. Must have been (we hope) a pre-opening rate, since the "hotel" (motel?) didn't seem ready at all, renovations everywhere, missing finishing touches. Although the room was spic and span, we experienced frequent water shortages (or no water at all), plus no hot water at all. Room with 2 kings for 4 adults is fine, beds were fine, but keep in mind that bath and toilet are... open air! There is no door, only a movable folding partition, so no privacy at all... Would work better for a couple on a budget and for a very quick getaway. The nicest public beach (5-10 min walk) is the one on the Caribbean side, behind Hard Rock Cafe.

“Great location, clean nice rooms, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2009

The room was incredibly big and very clean. The beds were very clean and comfortable with crispy sheets, and it was so quiet at night I slept like a baby! The fixtures and decor in the room are very nice, and the building is unbelivable, decorated like a Mayan castle. The staff is very courteous and helpful. The location is great, their beach club just across the street is beatiful. Great value for the price!
