Although this establishment is called a Hostel, i had my own private room with private bath. I opted for a fan, but no A/C, and it was US$25/night. It was very clean, comfortable, real hot water, and friendly, and i felt very safe. I arrived at the bus station, alone female, in downtown 'old' Cancun, with no place to stay and found Hostel Laurel 41 just 2 blocks from the bus station. They had free internet wireless service too; and a common room for eating, which i did not use. It was perfect for the one night i needed to stay there; but i would have been comfortable staying longer. It is not a resort hotel, so if that's what you are looking for, go elsewhere. But, I would definitely recommend it for what it is. The only negative thing was that it was a little bit noisy from one of the bars; but i still slept fine.
