“Loved the room, but the food was barely tolerable.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2011

We had a second floor room with balcony overlooking the pool. There were 3 of us staying. The room was spacious, the shower huge. The kitchen was minimally equipped with toaster and dishes/pots with a 2 burner stove (neither burner worked when we arrived) and a refrigerator. We told the front desk that the stove didn't work and went for supper. When we returned, one burner had been replaced which is all we needed to boil water for coffee, although we thought it strange that they wouldn't replace them both. (unless they only had the one new burner in stock.) The beds were very comfortable (firm), and we had a great sleep every night... the air conditioner gave us enough white noise to not hear the music from around the pool at night. Loved the balcony for reading, but it was often spoiled by other guests continually smoking beside us on their balconies. (not the hotel's fault we know) The pool was clean and a good temperature.

The restaurant is over the water on stilts with a thatched roof and with lots of airflow and we loved the location, but the food was not great. We'll eat almost anything, but couldn't stomach most of their cold, overcooked dishes. Breakfast had some kind of processed ham that tasted so disgusting, we called it "mousemeat". Avoid any food that has this chopped up in it! Food was barely warm, (probably because any heat was quickly blown away from the breezes off the ocean.)

Aside from the food, we were very comfortable and felt safe at all times. Nothing was stolen from our room and we had computers, cameras and cash. Wished we could have accessed internet from the room - it was only available from the lobby. Check in and out was a breeze, but they do put on those bracelets a notch too tightly.

“Forget Budget Conscious”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2010

Low rated hotel, not even for locals. The checking in was fast and immediate. Only that it came with wearing wrist bands tightly which left marks on our hands. Despite placing a Mexican spiritual icon on the wall, we didn't sense any warmth and hospitality. The rooms came with broken down kitchen stove, dead cockroaches and wet floors. Take caution of your personal belongings as we had ours stolen in the day. The nights came with endless telephone conversation from the overnight staff and the sounds of traffic from the main street. The hotel was courteous to remind as early to confirm our flight out from their country. Nearby hotels were even more tactful in showing us the exit for simply trespassing into their grounds.

“Average, but still a nice place to relax.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2010

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights back in 08, and we enjoyed our stay. The room was spartan but comfortable enough. Our only complaint was that the window in the bathroom wasn't frosted, and therefore someone walking down the stairs could easily see into the bathroom and glimpse someone doing their biz.

The outside area is nice. The pool is small, but a great temperature, however the highlight for me was the dock on the lagoon. I have been to Cancun several times, and no matter what, as pretty as the ocean may be, the lagoon is far more interesting to look at. Sitting on the dock with a bottle of tequila at sunset was a great way to end the day.

Overall if you aren't a picky traveler, and are looking for a deal, this is the place to go.

I went there with my daughter and although I had been to cancun before in a more upmarket hotel my daughter had never been. The hotel was great for the price the room was ok, no problems in the 14 days we were there, cleaning lady was brilliant and couldn't do enough for you. A lot of reviews said the receptionist was miserable, well we went to check in a smile on our faces and greeted him in Mexican (well the best we could)and he was lovely ,get him chatting then ask him for a good room and hey presto, its the same where ever you go if you treat the staff ok they will treat you ok, I think some people don't realise they are the foreigners when they are abroad.
The food was fine although not cordon bleu but there was always plenty and if there was nothing you wanted the chef in the evening was always willing to make something. All the waiters were helpful especially PHILIPPE. The burgers at the snack bar are to die for .. We always pick small hotels as they are more personal and this one certaialy was. Every one knew every one and we all had fun round the bar MIGUEL the barman is a wonder and although the bar shuts at 11 he will set about 4/5 galsses of whatevwer you drink in front of you at 10.55 then join you for a drink or 3. the beach is ok and the sea is great once you get past the seaweed, the other beaches on the strip are not as good and some have bad currents so there is no need to leave the hotel for that. We made friends with people from USA,Canada Austria, and a few from England as well, we didn't want to come home as that what staying at this hotel is home from home, go and enjoy. If the world wasn't so big we would be going there again. you must have a meal out at Jimmy Buffets the Margueritas come in litre glasses and the food is lovely.

“The worst of everything! Seriously.”

From check in, acted like they weren't expecting us. Not friendly, no elevators, put group in different buildings, old, stinky rooms, faulty AC, phone didn't work in one room, had to beg for towels every day. Never saw a face cloth the entire time. All inclusive was a joke, only one kind of draft beer, barley cold, tequila, and rum. Kitchen closed from 3 to seven in the evening. What! Are you kidding? Fajitas were not flank steak, cut up hot dogs were supposed to be sausage. Oh Honey, I'm not even close to being finished! How about location, no turquoise water here, just hot, murky, bay water. Hotel was far from everything, Whole group had to load up on the bus to get to a decent beach. Went out to eat one night, just to get some food. Cheap is not a good reason to stay there. If you see a good review of this place, it has to be fake.
