“Oldish hotel with an excellent restaurant!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I stayed for 3 nights in the Fiesta Americana Veracruz when on a buisness trip. The hotel is perfectly located, right on the beach. However the rooms are in desperate need of an uplift, the style and finishing is not what I would have expected at this level of hotel.

The service is very good, except that the balcony that was part of my room was not cleaned once. Otherwise the room was clean.

There is a small gym, which is quite crammed with equipment, and unfortunately the stationary bikes were out of order. There is also a small hairdresser, which lacks completely in service mindness. I had a manicure done which was ok, but the personnel were more concerned with watching the soap opera then serving. This is not typical for Mexico.

BUT the restaurant is fabulous! I travel all the time and have eaten at some of the most expensive restaurants in the world, and the one in the Fiesta Americana is definetly one of my top 5 favorites. I tried as many dishes as I could, and all of them were 5-star. Again the interior left a lot to ask for, and unfortunately for dinner there were one or two tables only. And the price/quality can definetly not be beaten!!!

I would stay again at this hotel if in Veracruz.

“Great relaxation; a fine break from exploring”

We really enjoyed the Rosato restaurant. Delicious. Superfriendly and informed staff (Felix
and Brenda). Elegant, great for a romantic dinner. Not crowded (should be).

Very nice hotel, pool and sit out on a very nice beach by the ocean. Veracruz area not much for swiming. Privacy on decks.
Not a resort area. We were coming from winter and needed to chill out before exploring. Great for that. (A Priceliner, but there were others in area that were not as well located and less nice).

Room Tip: All good, many great view; private decks

“Typical fiesta americana experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

Nice hotel. Typical fiesta americana marble floors and furniture. Good air conditioning. My room had an incredible view of the beach/sea. Front desk staff were friendly and quickly took care of a problem with my first room by moving me. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Not much to do in the area where the hotel is, but everything is a 5 min taxi ride away.

“Completely Overpriced, Poor Quality, Rockhard Beds”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 April 2010

Very popular among Mexicans, but I found the quality too low for the price they ask. This simple 4 star hotel asks 5 star prices and offers 3 star service.

From the pool the hotel looks nice. They have a cold outside pool and a warmer inside pool. But the inside pool was full of children. And when children are in a big group, they tend to make a lot of noise and in a pool they splash as if it was their first or last time.

The room looks okay, but smelled like a recent church visit for a funeral. The bed however was horrible. Since Fiesta Americana targets mainly to the local (Mexican) audience, maybe Mexicans like to sleep on a rockhard bed. I find it not comfortable. I rather have an American Standard bed (and I am not American by the way). When a bed is so hard, you tend to wake up a lot of times during the night. So in the morning you feel sleepy. The bed is already a reason to not stay in this hotel.

The bathroom was okay. Not too big, neither too small and relatively clean.

Breakfast was a joke for those prices. The buffet breakfast costs more then a good meal in a nice restaurant. And the management of the breakfast is totally lazy. They just watch the hard working waiters try to cope with too many guests, so food can not be prepared without waiting a long time. And management doesn;t see that, they rather watch and talk and try to look important (when in fact they look rather helpless). So not a good experience there.

Luckilly the pool entertainment was quiet and decent (I have seen different in Mexican hotels). It was "family friendly" so to say. A soccer match, some watersports.

All in all, if the price would be much lower and the bed would be soft, this could be an okay hotel. But I felt ripped off here (high prices) and could barely sleep. So never again to Fiesta Americana.
