Sweeping 5th floor views of the Gulf. Stunning. Room was clad with local tiles finished with the high gloss 'marble' finish. Everywhere!

Very satisfying resort experience.

This hotel, which is very popular with vacationing families, provided all the amenities one would expect from a Holiday Inn resort. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and there is a large pool facing the ocean. The food served at the restaurant was also very good, reflecting the influence of local cuisine. If you are expecting a beach holiday, however, you should be warned. The city of Veracruz, including the posher section of Boca del Rio, has a very lax attitude toward the disposal of human waste. As a result, the entire coast reeks of raw sewage. There is a steady flow from a pipe right into the sea directly in front of the hotel. However, the Holiday Inn is not alone in this regard. The Camino Real down the road is even worse in terms of polluted beach areas. I wondered how people would dare set foot in the water given the obvious contamination. I discussed this situation with a number of people, including the local tourist office, and it seems as if the municipal government does not really care. The state of Veracruz is utterly magnificent. The city, however, leaves a lot to be desired.

We stayed a week for convention, booked connecting rooms and got a nice surprise: rooms were located on the last floor, both with terrific oceanview and balconies. One room was huge, another a little smaller but still big comparing to Crown Plaza next door. Hotel has direct beach access and an aquatic center (a small pool, two whirlpools, palapa). Great restaurant overlooking the ocean. I liked the place much more then more expensive Crown Plaza where we stayed last 2 days.
