I travelled to Veracruz on a business trip in late September. Our company had recently lowered our travel budget, so I was asked to find a low-cost hotel for my trip. I was pleased to find this hotel listed in the top 10 of Trip Advisor's pick and with a cost of about one third of the other highly rated hotels.
Upon arrival (very late at night), the first thing I noticed was the attentiveness of the staff. Even though there was a language barrier, I was treated with great care and lots of smiles. After being shown to my room, the bell-boy returned a few minutes later with a pitcher of horchata (one of my favorite drinks) and ice. He told me that I looked like I was thirsty.
I stayed for 7 days. Each day the staff was very courteous and assisted me with questions and recommendations for the area. During my stay I made use of their laundry service. My clothes were returned very fresh and hung on hangers (at an amazingly low price for the service).
The hotel location is on the avenue that overlooks the shipping harbor. Being an old mariner myself, I enjoyed the view of the shipping activity from my room. Across the street from the hotel were many shops. During the evening, there were many street performers and vendors...the whole area had a party atmosphere every night.
The room I stayed in was very clean (a must in my book). The A/C worked very well. The internet WiFi signal was pretty weak in my room, however, I finally plugged into their hardwired LAN and got much better internet access. The bed was very comfortable. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was very pleasant...fresh flowers everywhere...soft music playing throughout the public areas.
The hotel has a cafe in the lobby, but I seldom saw anyone making use of it. I did notice that they had fresh beverages, but I believe most of the food that was offered was pre-packaged. But, there are some very highly rated cafes within a block of the hotel.
