after seeing this hotel at number 29 i was leaning towards hotel hawaii, but we were all pleasantly surprised to find this gem just a block from the zocalo, quiet and near restaruants, city bus tours, etc. we bargained for a great price at the front desk, we were on a motorcycle trip (11 of us) all over mexico. everything was great, our room a little on the small side, but it had all the amenities of a great hotel. el porton restaurant across the street is great, better than the infamous sanborn's downstairs. take the city bus tour that goes to boca del rio, it is inexpensive and gives you a great overview of the city. if you have a vehicule there is free parking around the corner. all in all a great value in a great location. try to be in veracruz city on a weekend, everything is going on all over downtown!

Not only did we get a great price on Expedia, this hotel has the perfect location and is fabulous in every way! The only possible downside is the smoke in the lobby due to Sanborns being there. The service was excellent, the room was spotless and comfortable and the zocalo is ten steps away. We had a room with a balcony giving us a great view. We would love to go back!

I just returned from Vera Cruz and a 9 day stay at the Hotel Vera Cruz (Calinda). It is right in the heart of the historic area of town with lota of nite life and activities. The hotel itself is not new, but would be on par with a Holiday Inn (Without carpeting). Clean & well kept, pool, restaurant, bar, valet service, but most of all some of the friendliest staff I have seen in ANY hotel. I think it deserves your consideration. Once a year I take a trip to different places and stay at different hotels, some many times nicer than this, but I couldn't be more satisfied staying here. L Pepin --Minnesota

Very pleasant hotel and conveniently located right acroos from the zocalo. SURPRINSIGLY QUIET for being accross all the activity going on at the plaza. I had a room in the sixth floor with a view to zocalo. The swimming pool is now at the second floor and it is a good size.The rooms are adequate and clean.I strongly recommend this hotel.
