I stayed at this hotel, in the same room, in 1972, 1982, and again in June. Wisely, I left the night before the band played, but I was there the evening the guitarist played and I did not find the music loud enough to prevent me from sleeping soundly. The mattress and pillows were new and very comfortable. My room was spotlessly clean, fresh linen was on my bed every day, the shower worked very well, there was no shortage of hot water, and after a month of bus travel throughout Mexico, I had the best sleep since I arrived in Mexico. The staff was thoughtful, kind, and went out of their way to make my visit pleasant. The service in the hotel's restaurant was unorganized, slow, and prone to error the day I chose to eat there but everyone makes mistakes. They apologized and, although I didn't ask them to, they discounted my bill. They meant well. I read the bad reviews but I thought the Casa Grande was the best hotel I stayed in during my month in Mexico! If those bad reviews were true, hotel management must have put forth an effort because my three days there were enjoyable and I will return to stay there again.
