I traveled recently with my parents to Chiapas on vacation, including San Cristóbal de las Casas. The trip was fabulous, except for the service at this hotel.
First of all, I should say that the location is perfect, right in the historic district, and the rates it offers are very competitive and offer good value. The hotel is also very clean and well maintained, with nice rooms, although it lacks a decent business center and a decent restaurant. And the staff could be a lot more friendly and helpful. Parking is available three blocks away on foot.
To illustrate: we booked the hotel through the Best Western site on the web, two nights and a third separate night at the and of our trip. On arrival, the receptionist told us everything was in order, but she charged the credit card right then and didn't tell us or give us a receipt or anything. When we checked out, the staff at the reception wouldn't give us a receipt and wouldn't help us when we asked to cancel the third, separate night. They didn't explain either that we were to cancel the reservation again through the web site, or else we would be charged for the night anyway. They only said the person in charge wasn't available at the time. So we had to call later to be told the same thing. We sent an email message directly to the hotel, and didn't receive an answer until three days later, so we ended up being charged for the night we didn't stay at the hotel.
To sum it up, I would recommend the hotel for the location, the comfort and the value it offers, but beware of the staff.
