“DEPRESSING”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2009

Decided to stay for 4 days because it was close to a friend of mine who lives here.... Room was noisy, reception staff never once smiled or said hello, couldn't have a shower for 2 days because the water was cold, breakfast was OK although they got the order wrong totally both time we ate there. Keep away, this place is awful!

“getting robbed at Oaxaca”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2009

Believe me, I've travelled a lot and stayed in lots of hotels, but this was the very first time I was literally robbed in a hotel. Some money went missing from the hotel safe. Needless to say this experience gave this hotel a very bad impression. Obvioulsy, after complaining to the management and making a formal complaint with Oaxaca police (terrible experience: 3 hours to make a writting complaint - endless red tape), I never saw any of my money back.
The rooms were a bit shabby too.
The food was nice though, to say something positive

“you get what yu pay -just great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2009

A small group of 10 adults looking for safe, real mexican food "mole" and great location far away from downtown but close enough to everything and sightseing ....Nice prices and tours to El Tule and Montealban ruins. In the hotel you get what you pay with the best service in town.....yu must be there!!
Noticed great place for meetings as well for family.

“Cheap and authentic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2006

This hotel is 15 minutes from the city center. It was in a quiet part of the city. The bed was awful. The staff was friendly. It is not a "resort" of any kind and does not promote itself as such. It's equal to a 1970's motel 6. If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep ($71 US) clean, with no bugs and basic services... this is it. The breakfast buffet (not included in room price) was great.

We had a taxi take us to Monte Alban (Victor was an awesome, very well spoken, english tour guide at Monte alban, $20) and then return for us 3 hours later. He then stayed with us for 4 hours of stop and go through Tule and Mitla... total cost of $60 US. It was well worth it. If you're going to get a taxi by the hour be sure the hotel requests you a newer, cleaner car with A/C. It would be worth the few more minutes wait to ask for taxi # 202.

“Disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2005

DO AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST!!! It is far away from the city centre and you will have to haggle to get a decent price with a taxi. The "hotel" apparently has a free shuttle bus service. Well we could never use it as it was never there and the staff couldn't really explain why. The staff was RUDE and UNHELPFUL and hardly spoke any English. The pool was so dirty so we could never use it during our 5 day stay. The breakfast buffet was a rip-off with limited food you could actually eat. Beware of the milk, disgusting! Have your coffee black instead. The room was in a poor condition without even basic things like an information book, pen and paper and so on. The AC was so loud that it was more comfortable to keep it switched off. I will never ever come back here again. Oaxaca itself is a nice little town but the stay would have been more pleasant with a proper hotel. San Felipe Mision should be demolished and never be rebuilt!
