I was a little concerned booking a hotel in a different country , and In a city I knew little about , over the internet, being from Toronto,Canada I chose Hotel Francia and have no regrets ........I would stay there again any time I visit Oaxaca. The Location was great ,the rooms were very clean and well kept and the staff were friendly and easy to deal with ! It was an excellent value and offered a great combination of ( cleanliness-location -safety-price ) . its too bad the owners don't have hotels in other cities in mexico ; it would make my searching much easier .Very pleased with my decision to stay at Hotel Francia !

The room was absolutely nothing compared to the pictures shown on the Internet. It was dirty, old, extremely noisy, sub-par decorated.

When we asked for hand towels, the hotel desk said the didn't manage any, nor any bath rugs.

The bathroom sink cluttered at the first use, I even had help come inside the room to leave toilet paper while I was bathing.

Chech-in was delayed 1.5 hours due to the hotel's fault.

We decided to check-out 2 nights early due to the terrible experience. The hotel staff seemed helpful in finding another hotel for us and assuring no additional charges were made to my credit card due to my online reservation. Yet, they took 3 days to sort everything out and I had to call them on several occasions to hurry up everything.

The only good thing is the hotel's location near the main square.

This was the first hotel our taxidriver took us to when we arrived in Oaxaca early in the morning. We payed about 600 pesos for one night there, and it included breakfast. We would normally not have taken a hotel in that price range but we were exhausted from the trip and wanted to sleep.
The service was great, location absolutely perfect, rooms were great. The only thing that was not so good was the breakfast, but that might be due to personal taste. I do feel that with the exception of the size of the lobby and the little stuff you get from the hotel (little soaps and towels) you could get the exact same thing two blocks away for about half the price.
This hotel should definately be acredited for its very warm welcome early in the morning however, I'm not sure I would not have felt like a bother in any other hotel.

I didn't like this hotel, mainly due to the dimly lit rooms which were also quite hot. This meant you had to open the bedroom window where the traffic noise was unbearable - even with earplugs! Our room didn't even have a room number and seemed to be a temporary as the place was being renovated. Considering the money paid and what we received, I was disappointed.
