The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are disconcertingly subservient. Make sure to bring change/small bills for tips! Fiesta Americana is right next to Fiesta Inn (they use the same driveway). I chose this hotel because it was recommended by the organizers of the conference I attended, and was closest to the events I needed to be at bright and early in the morning. The staff persons were most, if not all, Spanish/English bilingual. My biggest objection to this place is, as another reviewer mentioned, the surprise hidden costs. Even though my office is covering the cost of my stay here, it doesn't mean I welcome unexpected, exorbitant additional charges. The coffee in the hotel room cost 65 pesos per pot (for some reason it's cheaper to order it from room service: 35 pesos plus tip), and the wi-fi cost 172 pesos PER DAY/PER PERSON in the hotel room. The bottle of water in the room cost a whopping $4.50 (American) per bottle, and there was no complimentary first bottle. This struck me as in-poor-taste and downright inhospitable, especially in a city where drinking tap water is ill-advised. We ended up having to take a taxi the next day to the closest Superama to buy big jugs of water. I had been traveling in Europe for business the previous week so I had some laundry to do. I was SHOCKED to discover that Fiesta Americana charges 45 to 85 pesos for EACH item to be laundered. @#$??!! In addition, make sure to bring a print-out of the confirmed price you booked the room under; they tried to charge us more but once we produced the print-out they immediately changed the price to match the e-mail. The saving grace of this hotel was the swimming pool--after a day of work it was wonderful to come back and take a long swim. The restaurant food was good, and cost the equivalent of reasonable American prices. There are no convenient food options in the area outside of the 3 or 4 hotel restaurants and there are no sidewalks so you are dependent on hotel taxis to get around (they charge twice as much as regular taxis in DF). I would recommend this hotel if they included wi-fi in the room's price, and sold 1.5l bottles of water for a reasonable price, say 25 pesos. As it stands, I would not recommend this hotel, nor return myself. If you need to be close to a location in the near vicinity of the hotel and decide to stay here, add $50 (American) to the cost per day and you will have a more accurate daily rate.
