“Good for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

I have stayed here many times over the years. The staff have always been helpful and polite. The room is basic, the water not always hot early in the morning, but the food is good and taxis safe. The security guys watch things and there are some nice shops nearby. There is a great tourist market on Rue Londras "London St." where you can haggle over the prices...you should as they don't expect you to pay the price they ask at first. I have been in many hotels in the city over the years, but find this one bearable.

“Horrible Hotel”

I had booked three rooms for a convention in Mexico City. When we arrived the rooms smelled horrible. Ended up changing rooms but as the day continued our "new" rooms started to smell worse and worse like sewage. A/C didn't work, safe deposit box originally did not work as well as one of their two elevators for a 13 story hotel did not work which we were told never works when it rains. It rained every day of our stay. One night around midnight while sleeping someone opened my door but luckily I had the security lock so that person could not come in. The front desk had given a key to my room by mistake to another guest. The list goes on and on. definitely avoid this hotel at all costs.

“its, ok.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2011

As a business traveler, I would have to say it was ok. The hotel lobby is nice, restaurant was actually very good. But, the beds in the rooms were terrible, hard, and they had no comforters. Our first room had to be changed, apparently the door interlocking the rooms had no lock! Our second room's window was broken and did not close all the way. But, the staff was helpful and it was not noisy at night. If you do not mind hard hard beds, I suggest it. In walking distance to some sight seeing. A convenience store is across the street.

Close to downtown and great business this hotel is a great & cheaper option if you have meetings nearby. Also, there are great restaurants surrounding an very good security.

“Good Value - Clean - Good Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2011

I have been staying here for about 8 years, about 10 times a year, since it is very close to my office in Mexico City. I know this place!!

Value is excellent (always under $100 with taxes), rooms are nothing special, clean, small bathroom, comfortable bed, flat screen, No CNN :-(, good working desk, free wifi. The hotel is most of the time full, with big tour groups, which makes it for a restaurant and lobby that at times are overcrowded. I prefer rooms between floors 4-6, facing Rio Lerma Street. They are noisier than in the back, but warmer during winter. Lower is too noisy, higher floor scare me because I don't trust the sprinkler and egress systems.

Restaurant is very good, nothing special but breakfast and lunch buffets are excellent, and room service is very good ( [pasta with meat sauce my favorite. Great selection of teas. Try guava). The waiters are very nice. Front desk staff is just OK. It drives me crazy that it takes them a while to recognize me. So don't expect personalized attention (the St. Regis is next door and the Marquis two blocks away, if you want to be pampered), but for the price you can't beat it. And if you tire of the hotel restaurant, go to Quebracho for a good Argentinian steak, just two blocks away. Reforma is one block. Area is safe. Happy travels!
