“Comfortable and central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

... where "central" of course is very relative in Mexico City ...

Overall rating is kind of 4-/3+, somehow the hotel is lacking a cosy atmosphere and is not showing something particular stylish as well. A bit like "nice, but not special atmosphere". Restaurant offers reasonable quality food, but there is plenty of good places in walking distance. Some good music pubs around as well.

Rooms are comfortable, but not furnished for working. Plugs a little hidden and difficult to plug in, no desk - but proper WLAN. Bathroom about average, but clean.

Experienced a small earthquake that I found a litle shaky and scary - but except a ceiling light dropping out of the ceiling, outside the room everything remained silent - apparently nothing special ....

Room Tip: Worthwhile to book an executive room on the executive floors. Allows for seperate check-in/out on th...

“Excellent hotel in Zona Rosa Mexico city”

The Galeria Plaza hotel in Mexico city is well located in the Zona Rosa colonia. The staff were very helpful, particularly the concierge staff who made restaurant reservations and gave excellent directions and ideas of places to visit in Mexico city. The hotel is within walking distance of Chapultapec park and the Anthropology Museum which is one of the most impressive museums anywhere. The rooms are comfortable and spacious.

“Awesome people ...old stuff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I stayed at the Galeria Plaza in Zona Rosa in Mexico City for 7 weeks. During my stay I changed rooms 4 times. The beds are horrible. They did however give me a padding that solved the problem to a certain extent. There was one room where the faucet in the bathroom was completely disloged. There was another room where when I went to use a plug ...the wires were hanging. When I got there the tv's were like from the 1980's. During my stay they upgraded to flat screens.

So that's the bad part. Now the good. The good totaly outweighs the bad. The staff is incredible. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They will do everything in their power to try to make your stay pleasant and that is one of the reasons I stayed as long as I did.

The food at the hotel is excellent. They have a wine cellar and the house wine is a must try! It is centrally located on Hamburgo street in one of the busiest areas of town and one block away from Reforma the main street. Walking around the hotel and on Reforma at any hour of the day or night is safe and there isnt a time when you wont find people or traffic.

Mexico City is awesome. Galeria Plaza not so awesome.

Room Tip: Ask for a padding on your bed. Check the wiring in the room and check all the faucets and hardware.

“Beyond Expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Booked a room for a two night stay in January. We were surprised and thrilled with the hotel, it"s location, and service. We expected a lot less for the price we paid. First let me say I think Mexico City frequently receives a bum rap for safety issues. Mexico City is a vibrant world class capitol and yes, with big city problems; but I felt less safe in San Francisco last month. The people who work at the hotel are friendly and helpful and accommodating. We were treated very well all over Mexico City. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean and well kept with all the expected services. It is not posh as the five star hotels on the Reforma, but one should not expect it to be. It is a strong four star property. The location in the Zona Rosa allows access to practically any part of the city easily. It's a very long walk, but we walked to the Templo Mayor in the historic downtown and enjoyed every step of the way. Go to Mexico and enjoy, and I would recommend a stay at Galeria Plaza.

“Lock up your Belonging!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed at Galeria Plaza on Hamburgo in Mexico City from December 22nd until January 2nd. The moment I arrived at the hotel, my husband and I checked our belongings to ensure that nothing had been removed from our luggage at the airport. Everything was there. However, we did not lock our luggage because we believed it was safe to just leave the luggage in our rooms while we ate. The next day a bag of small toiletries was missing. Then two days later, my only two necklaces were missing, but they were there before. I did not want to get the person that cleaned the room in trouble, but I did let her know that I was missing my things. She, of course, said that she didn't take it. My advice is to bring a lock and lock everything up in your luggage. They will never admit to taking your things. Other than that, it was fine. They left a piece of cake in our room on Christmas eve, which was very thoughtful. However, now that I have a mistrust of the cleaning personnel, I doubt that I will stay at this hotel again. It's such a shame because everything was at close proximity. If you go to this hotel, please be very careful with your belongings!
