“A good choice of a hotel when you are on a budget”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

The hotel is walking distance to the city centre, shopping, banks and churches, etc. My room was small but it was clean, housekeeping was done everyday . They have a restaurant on main floor which offers good mexican menus ,I pay 150-200 pesos /meal for lunch or dinner . Internet does not work all the time, cost me 50 pesos/24hrs to be connected but just around the street corner is an internet cafe and it cost me 1peso/hr. Bring your adaptor plugins, to get one will cost another 25 pesos in the hotel. It was mostly quiet at night with some occasional loud noises heard from the elevator . Staff were pleasant and helpful.Taxi from the hotel is expensive, they charge me 90 pesos for a route that is normally 40...oh well, they offer security during your travel.

“for Spanish speakers only”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

Hotel's website is dishonest: no satellite TV or remote (6 basic Spanish channels with no sub titles), rooms not air conditioned (central air not working or turned on) , no gift shop, no children's pool.

Tiny room. Luggage had to be stored in closet. No light in closet required luggage removal for retrieval of any item. With no air conditioning had to keep windows open. No screens... after 2nd night counted 17 mosquito bites on head, neck, arms. Very noisy...could hear everything that went on in nearby rooms. Shower had a hole in partition and flooded bathroom floor. Shower floor not sanitary, bathroom window very dirty.

Elevator leveller system doesn't work properly missing its position by 2 to 8 inches leading to stubbed toes or stumbles. Wireless internet cost 50 pesos/24 hours and then of very short range (didn't work at bar next door) and not 100% reliable.

All staff very rude and unhelpful with the exception of the 2 English speaking doormen. Was made fun of by desk staff. Food and beverage staff in overpriced restaurant unwilling to assist even when I was the only customer. No complementary ice to cool beverages in room. (ca be obtained at the liquor store across the street cheaply).

Take the $5 you save on Wi-Fi and spend it on an upgrade to a nicer property that includes internet access.

Only redeeming factors: pool (closes too early at 8:00 PM), decent location, price.

STAY AWAY UNLESS FLUENT SPANISH SPEAKER ON A VERY TIGHT BUDGET.

“Good Value for Basics & Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2010

I've stayed here in for just about a week each in August '04, May '08, and June '09. It was easy to book online or via the phone. Rates are very reasonable, the rooms small but comfortable, and the location excellent in terms of nearness to just about everything (Monument to the Revolution, Zocalo, Alameda Park, Insurgentes/Reforma, Zona Rosa, & Chapultepec -- all walkable as is the Revolucion Metro Station. The nearby streets are relatively quiet at night. While there are a couple of relatively good restaurants fairly close (along with a Starbucks), most of the rest are just so-so (including two Sanborns or avoidable (VIPs). Their own restaurant is just fair but with good service. I like the breakfasts. My only complaints are that sometimes the interior light well can be noisy from visiting school groups (who also crowd the elevators). I also find it a bit annoying to have to buy internet access (available throughout the hotel) every 24 hours for a relatively small fee. Their fees for doing any laundry work are just outrageous - so skip that. Otherwise, I will stay here again for the convenience and the price.

“Bueno Sin Grandes Pretensiones”

This is a great deal if you are a non pretencious person, and you are just lokking for a nice affordable place to stay. is very well located, kind of hide but one st walk from reforma av. and about 15 min walking to downtown, chapultepec and other nice areas
clean, not fancy, minimum ammenities(just soap, and drinking water) witha nice pool onn the roof,a huge plus to relax. the staf is not bilibgul but they will try to assist you,but better practice your "español" other wise not even try to communicate with them
nice price, clean and plain, enough for a bussines trip or a comfort vacation hotel

  • Liked — the price
  • Disliked — non english speaking person available only in the morning shift

“Good price & location but room has funny smell”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2007

The best thing about this hotel is the price and the location. It was the cheapest option among hotels close to the city center and just a block off Paseo de la Reforma. The price at the reception was cheaper than the internet rate. The room, however, has a persistent funny smell and the bathroom needs to be renovated. Reception staff are not good at English.
