Because we were so satisfied with our stay in 2009, we decided to book this hotel again. The location is perfect- right in the Zona Rosa, two blocks from the Insurgentes Subway station. The suite was immaculate and the staff is friendly and extremely helpful. The included hot breakfast provides several choices and the wait staff is very attentive.
I had booked the suite on the hotel web site and when we arrived there was some question about the rate that we were given. I provided the people at the desk with copies of my reservation paperwork and after a couple of days I was assured that they would honor the rate that I had been promised. The bill at checkout reflected that.
A word to those worried about traveling in Mexico due to all of the negative press about drug cartels and danger. My wife and I do not like to travel in small vehicles (viz. cars and taxis) so we only use our feet and public transportation when we travel. Mexico City has 9 subway lines and they are always crowded. The cost is 3 pesos (about 25 cents) for a trip. We rode them all over the city. There was no hint of any kind of danger. We also used a light rail and buses while we were there. Again, inexpensive and not at all threatening in any way. We also visited Cuernavaca and had similar experiences. Mexico's intercity buses are modern coaches with reserved seating. We used one for our transfer from Mexico City to Cuernavaca. Again, low cost, safe and comfortable.
That being said, I would not travel in this manner in border cities such as Tiajuana or Ciudad Juarez- and one should always take reasonable precautions with valuables when traveling anywhere.
