“Good Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2007

I stayed in the Century Zona Rosa in June of 2007. I found it to be very adequate and reasonably priced. It’s an older hotel but well maintained and clean. The staff is very pleasant and VERY helpful. Some street noise in the room if you get a room in the front street side. The restaurant is very clean….there is someone in there all the time cleaning something. The food is very good, reasonably priced and service is outstanding. It is located in an older part of the city and in the heart of the “Zona Rosa” (Pink Zone)…Mexico City’s Gay district. Public display of affection between same-sex couples is prevalent. Lots of Gay bars, restaurants, shops and sex shops in the area. If any of that offends you then look elsewhere. Hotel is near a Metro (subway) Station…about 2 blocks I think. Lots of taxis available outside the hotel. Lots of shopping and good international restaurants in the area. 30 - 40 minutes from the Mexico City International Airport…taxi fare was $22 USD. Hotel is just 2 blocks from the main drag thru the city… Avenida Reforma. I walked around the area in the late evening and it was a safe place to walk. If you’re thinking about renting a car and driving in the city…DON’T. It’s a city of 26 million people and they’re all on the streets in cars.

“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2007

My boyfriend and I stayed here in May of 06. Our plans to stay in a friend's house backfired last minute so comming out of the airport at 10:00 PM we were force to hop in a cab and asked him to take us somewhere safe. Considering we didn't have reservations and we were walk ins (they always get a high rate) we paid 140.00 a night. I am assuming it was a suit because the room was huge, and there was a large jazuzzi style tub in there. The room had a balcony in which you could see for miles and miles outward. The hotel staff was very friendly and they were always willing to lend a helping hand. I do suggest anytime you need a cab leaving your hotel to ask the front desk to call one for you. I have heard many horror stories about mexico cabs. The room was very clean and the location was great. We felt safe because there is a police station right next to the hotel. We had a great experience at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

“location location location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2007

dated hotel in a great location: safe walking within zona rosa, metro stop one block away (easy ride to central historic area), plenty of tourist ripoff restaurants, street stalls, sushi, trendy, etc all within few blocks. I didnt eat at the hotel because was I am budget traveler, but looked good and was always busy.
friendly staff, cable tv, free internet in lobby. Was popular with tour groups. I had tiny room, but i did request the cheapest they had (US$60)
Def had a 70's feel with the decor!! I was never in the room anyway - too much to do and see around there.

“ok place esp for tour groups”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2006

We were staying here as a group on a xmas time tour of the city;
The rooms were standard fare, clean, minifridge, cable tv etc.
smallish bathroom; but the restaurant was pretty good, a little slow, If you don't want to eat there there is a Sanborns right down the street. It is typically a little noisy area but no real problems. Rooms have balconies. Within walking distance of restaurants and shopping; just be sure to be back by nightfall or arrange a taxi to take you back.

“Nice hotel”

We stayed at the hotel four nights last February. The location is good since you are close to every shop and restaurant but also you should take into account that it is mostly a gay district. If you are travelling with kids or teens like us you should be aware of this and consider if you will feel comfortable in a place where 90% of people around you are gay couples expressing freely their love in public.
The hotel is not a big deal but to me it looked clean and comfortable. My teen daughter thought that it looked a bit like a sex motel just like one of the travellers mentioned.
There were hair driers and lock boxes free of charge in the room. There were bubbles, bottled water and other courtesy items from the hotel, too. There wasn’t a clock but you were kindly warned to ask at the reception desk to be woken up in the morning.
The maid was very helpful, she offered to make our rooms also in the evenings after siesta time and she would come to the room at bed time to let some chocolates on the bed.
One day we had trouble with our video camera plugs, my son went to the reception desk for a piece of advise and one of the maintenance men was very kind. He showed interest in the problem and provided the right plug. He told my son to keep it which proved to be very useful.
