“A very unpleasant experience...”

We stayed at this hotel only a few nights, while waiting to travel on to another destination.

The hotel has nice comfortable rooms, and although this is certainly no five star, it is a nice place to stay at. The public areas are very nicely restored/decorated, and there even is a hair salon and small convenience store inside the hotel, which can of course be very useful.

The restaurant is no good, with most food served right out of the can. I suppose it was a stupid mistake of ours to go there in the first place, but of course if you don't try at least once you'll never know. The staff there is friendly, although not shy when it comes to ask for a higher tip... And the food, well none of us finished their plates, it was simply disgusting!

The sleep quality is very poor. The beds are comfortable, however you hear everything from the outside corridor. Unfortunately there were very loud guests who were working at something all night long, talking loud, receiving people until 4.30 in the morning. At some point I even thought this was a drug gang supplying local dealers. Anyways, the fact that you simply cannot have a good night's sleep at this hotel because you are constantly woken up by the noise somewhat defeats it's original purpose. And the fact that the food served here is essentially canned food, really makes this a very poor hotel.

I will not recommend this hotel to anyone...

“Nice hotel with some charm, but charge extra for wifi to guests? Come on, it's 2011. Even coffee shops include wifi with a 20”

The standard rooms are just that, standard. Beds are good but not great, bathrooms are clean but a little grubby in terms of grouting repair. Elevator out of service, but the luggage porter was in great shape and sped up the stairs with our heavy bags. Don Pepe has good food four doors away and the bakery two doors away has great cappuccinos (and wifi).

“Highly recommended, great value hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

Great location; just off the main street Reforma from where you can take a quick bus to the historic city centre (10 mins or so), about 15 mins walk from the Palacio Bellas Artes, and close to Insurgentes metro and the Condesa area (nice place with good restaurants/bars).

Rooms and interior are nice if not spectacular, while the staff are v helpful and even let us check in at 9am as we'd come on an overnight bus and badly needed a shower!

Also the rates were very good value considering its central location in Mexico City.

“Perfect. Beautiful Place. Loved it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

This hotel was perfect. It was beautiful with a lot of character. The rooms were perfectly comfortable and lovely as was the rest of the hotel and garden. We received a lot of help from the staff with places to go and how to get there. Good location. I can't say enough about how perfect this place was. My wife and I took a vacation with my family and hers. My brother had his two young children with him. It was a tough group to please, but this hotel accomplished the impossible in that regard.

“Excellent location, good value hotel in the centre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

We stayed in this inexpensive hotel for 6 nights on our recent trip to Mexico City. General comfort in the room excellent, we thought our chambermaid should be retired but she did a good job and we were pleased to leave a good tip for her. Television viewing was a disaster as the hotel had a poor selection of channels to chose from. This was a pity in a city where we were constantly reminded of how dangerous it was to go out at night and that for our own safety we should remove ALL jewellery. The internet was a disaster - a room with three computers for use of guests but on a timed pay as you go system!!! We had just come from a Holiday Inn in Guadalajara where the internet was free, in the bedroom and an integral part of the television. The restaurant was run as a separate entity. We only had breakfast there one morning as the service was slow, the choice limited to menu selection by numbers and expensive. Better value down the street at Don Pepe but this latter only open Monday to Friday.
