“REALLY A LOVELY PLACE”

All staff very attentive to our needs,
Best of all is the bed, very comfortable and the room so well designed to make you spend a pleasant night.
The hotel is near to the attractions of the beautiful city of Guanajuato, and if you want a little fun more, we dont´n need go too far, because the club is just a few steps.
I really liked.

“Perfect retreat for a relaxing weekend!.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

I found a really nice rate over Expedia for this Hotel and I decided to give it a try for one weekend. Guanajuato, Mexico is a LOVELY historic city in central Mexico and it is a MUST to visit in order to have a REAL sense of a vibrant mexican city & Barroque Architecture. It is easy reached by car/bus from Leon/Bajio international airport which is just 35 min away.

What is spectacular about this hotel is that part of it used to be a nun catholic convent, so you get the most feeling of being in a spectacular place. Design and hotel adap. was perfectly done, whitout affecting original architecture. There is at the back of the property a new and modern building where most of the rooms are.

Eventhoug is whitin the city, you feel a space of total relaxation, sourounded by beautiful gardens and corridors. Check in was OK (they took a time to find my prepaid-reservation) but finally a got a nice room. I was expecting more luxury, but it was more than adecuate.

You can walk to the main attractions in more central Guanajuto in about 20 min. It's better to walk down to have a view of the sourroundings (average "real" mexican neighborhoods) and then come back by Taxi, or both ways in a taxi if you prefer to save your walking for Downtown (GUanajuato is a totally walking city!!!).

We spend one afternoon relaxing at the pool and the by night went to downtow to have dinner. At the day after we took a tour around Guanajuato by our own (we rented a car). Hotel also offers a city tour, but I'm not sure what's included.

I'm sure you will have a pleasent time taking a relaxing weekend over this very nice and cared property!.

Enjoy!!!.

“Very nice hotel, a little bit off the beaten path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

We stayed at the Camino Real in our vacations in Guanajuato. The hotel is located in a hill, 10-15 minutes walk to downtown, where everything interesting is located. The walk goes through a not very interesting part of the city, and the sidewalk is narrow, so we were not thrilled to walk it 4 times a day. That was the negative point of the hotel. Yes, you can take a cab for 30-35 pesos, and I think that's the smartest way to go, if you stay at downtown all day. We didn't, since our kids wanted to go to the pool all the time (they would have stayed there all day long if it was up to them!). But the pool was the main reason why we chose the Camino Real. The garders are small, but pleasant. The pool was lukewarm, and it has a slide which our kids enjoyed inmensely. Towels were at our disposal, and when we run out we just rang to the reception and they make sure more towels were provided.
The rooms are in the small side, yes, but enough for our family of four. The matresses were too soft for our taste, we felt like it swallow us each time, not enjoyable. But the overall feeling was that of a nice room, nice wash area with toiletries. Bathroom was too large for the size of the room, a little odd. Shower was nice with hot water, and it had a line to hang our swimsuits.
Didn't try the restaurant, it was pricey comparing to other restaurants, but it seemed a nice place to eat.
Overall, the hotel is a nice place to stay in Guanajuato if you want to enjoy the hotel and hang around in the pool. But if you want to stay in the middle of the action all the time, I would recommend another hotel near downtown.
