My stay in Guanajuato was highlighted by the exceptionally friendly, personalized service at the Hotel Casa del Agua. Additionally, the restaurant attached to the hotel lobby, offered a small but tasty menu for very reasonable rates. And location is outstanding. Casa del Agua is now and will remain to be first choice for stays in the beautiful, historic Mexican city.

We went to Guanajuato to spend a long weekend, and staying at this hotel was one of the best choices we made. It's a beautiful XIX century house with all new interiors, so the bathroom was new and clean. It's located at the very heart of the city, so you can walk anywhere from there. The parking lot is a little bit far, and it's very hard to get there if you are not familiar with Guanajuato's very complex tunnels (and we were not...) The breakfast is included in the price and it's OK. However, the rooms are not noise isoleted so you get to hear your upstairs neighboor when she's walking around her room in her high heels. Also, we wanted to use the tub at night and the water was never hot.

When I returned from my tour, I wanted to get a good night sleep but I never found my pijama. I called the manager and told him that I left it folded over the suit case but he didnt care. It was late, so I had to sleep in my underwear. The next day the owner didnt care either.
Besides it shouldnt be anounced as boutique, the rooms are ugly, its smells, you can hear the bells from the church every hour, couldnt rest.....
Not worthy........ would ask to refound my money if possible

The hotel is in the heart of downtown close to all the essential spots. Our room and bathroom were very spacious and airy, clean, with much attention paid to client services including toiletries and incense sticks. As rooms go, it was very value for money.

Inclusive breakfast was quite good too with a choice of about 7 meals, ranging from fruit and yogurt to Mexican style eggs.

The staff were accommodating but I must say not as friendly as other Mexicans we have encountered.

The big downfall about this place is the noise. We didn't sleep all night from the traffic. The hotel is on a corner and is on the main traffic route through the city. Many noisy and dirty diesel trucks were doing there rounds all throughout the night, like you had a garbage truck out there all night. I think the hotel should invest in some sound proof windows. At least that might lessen the extremely loud noise of the church bells just outside the window which clang like 15 times every 15 minutes from 7am (God forgive me).
I must also add that parking was a little bit inconvenient. Although it is 100m walking distance from the hotel, to drive there you have to rally again around the whole city......same when you go to pick it up. At least the hotel provides someone to accompany you to park it - like a semi-valet service. I don't know why they don't just offer the full valet service.
