“Absolutely Perfect”

I cannot say enough positive about Quinta Las Acacias!! I've never written a Trip Advisor review in my life, but we had such a wonderful stay I had to share. We stayed at Quinta Las Acacias during early November 2011, when visiting Guanajuato for a friend's wedding. We traveled with our two small children and extended family, and we all stayed at Quinta Las Acacias. The stay was nothing short of perfect. The grounds of the hotel are really beautiful and so well maintained, the rooms are very nice and the beds comfortable. The service was very attentive but not intrusive, everything was clean and the breakfast was delicious!!

Having lived in the city of Guanajuato for three years as a single person, I know the city well and am familiar with many of the hotels. Quinta Las Acacias is not right in the downtown area - that is the only possible drawback for any traveler - but for a family, this was perfect because it was very peaceful and quiet at the hotel and a short bus or taxi ride to downtown and the other attractions in the city.

If you visit Guanajuato, stay here!!! And visit Cafe Tal, the best coffee you will ever taste.

Room Tip: The jacuzzi suites (we stayed in Don Ismael) are very nice, set back from the main hotel and they ha...

“Perfect Evening in the Heartland!”

A last minute reservation brought us to the Guelaguetza Suite. Although entering with high expectations, Quinta Las Acacias far exceeded our expectations.

The suite was extremely spacious, with colorful, tasteful, warm decorations from artistic Oaxaca. We luxuriated in the most comfortable bed I had in Mexico (notoriously hard usually), the giant jacuzzi, warm bathrobe and slippers.

The staff was kind and endlessly helpful.

One thing to note - my guidebook had less favorable notes regarding the restaurant. I will say, the coffee was delicious and the cornbread amazing. Although the breakfast, which was more American in cuisine, was not my favorite, my boyfriend who was Argentine was more than delighted with the food.

Overall, this was an absolutely beautiful place to rest our heads while exploring the enchanting Mexican Heartland.

Room Tip: The Guelaguetza suite is located outside of the main house; offering wonderful privacy.

“A tiny complaint: Please chill the white wine...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

Beautiful hotel, great grounds, very talented chef, easy to get a taxi if you go to the Basilica, but I wish they could chill a bottle of white wine. The two lovely women at the reception desk should be in charge. (Honest commentary of a straight woman) Guanajuato is really worth the visit: I love the tunnels, the mines, the streets, and there are some great restaurants, although I still think the best one is right there at Las Acacias.

Room Tip: "El Charro" avoided the street noise.

“lovely boutique hotel”

Quinta Las Acacias was a perfect place to stay during our memorable trip to Guanajuato. All the staff were friendly and willing to help you in every way they could, the room was spacious and decorated with taste, and the breakfast was just wonderful, so many dishes to choose from and every one of them very good. As many others have pointed out, the distance to center city is quite long and confusing, and it took us 25-30 min on foot. This isn't much of a problem since cabs are inexpensive, around 40 pesos for just about anywhere in town. Another minor downside was the noise from the passing cars in the street at night, which we were able to shut out with the ear plugs they provided. With that said, I would still give this hotel a five star! Would love to come back again.

“Lovely hotel - service could be more professional”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2010

I stayed at the Quinta Las Acacias for a week in November while studying at a nearby language school. This a comfortable hotel with a charming, old-fashioned but very well-maintained decor. My standard room was huge and super-comfortable: it had a large and very welcoming bed, a great chaise for lounging and a small desk. The room was kept spotlessly clean. My room rate included breakfast, which was very good. I was permitted to choose any entree from the menu and also received coffee, juice, fruit and bread. I also was pleased that Wifi access was included in my room rate - and the access worked consistently throughout my visit. (On the other hand, the TV is about 12". I didn't mind, but some people might so I thought I'd mention it.)

The negatives are relatively minor. First, the staff, while pleasant, do not seem very pro-active or solicitous of the guests' needs. This doesn't seem appropriate at such a high-priced hotel. Second, the hotel, while convenient for me, is about a 30 minute walk from the historic town centre, and there aren't a lot of dining options nearby. While it is easy (and cheap) to get a cab into the centre of town, it is harder to get one to go back and so sometimes it would be nice to have more dining options nearby. Third, the sound insulation (vis a vis the street outside and regarding other rooms) is poor. The hotel knows this and leaves earplugs in the room - you'll need them because there are very loud cars and trucks racketing by - and it feels like they're just on the other side of the bed. I also could hear irritating Muzak-type music playing in the dining room while I was in my room. There also was a comfortable lounge located just outside my room on the second floor - and if anyone spent any time in there, it felt like they were having a conversation in my room.
