“A first class hideaway at Guadalajara”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

I visited this Hotel during a business trip at Guadalajara and the first thing I liked was that it does not even look like a Hotel, is a De luxe property among a residential neighborhood. Centrally located and it has all the conveniences we were looking for. We stayed during 3 nights, and the staff was always helpful, the Restaurant was a pleasent surprise, excellent atmosphere and great food. We will definitely go back.

Room Tip: If you can stay at the Master Suite.

“Very enjoyable stay”

My colleague and I went out to dinner with some local friends and when we returned the hotel staff we found that the hotel staff had cleaned up the room, left some candies and water, and some other accents to the room. It was clear they were expecting that we might bring our friends back to the room as guests and they prepared for it. That was a really impressive highlight of an overall great stay. Alejandro and Rogelio were very friendly and helpful.

“A fantastic stay”

We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience at the Clarum 101. First of all, the staff was kind and attentive, while non-intrusive, anxious to please but without the uncomfortable over-the-top hospitality approach.

The style was incredibly elegant and chic, easily the best appointed hotel I've ever stayed at.

The location is superb, we fell in love with the neighborhood, which while on the quiet side had a host of small restaurants, cafes and even a small street fair where they were selling art and other local foods and handicrafts. What a treat!

The concept of the restaurant (I believe they call is "spontaneous") caught us a little off guard, but we both couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. We insisted that we wanted to sample local flavors and ingredients, and the result was the best meal we've had in all of Mexico (this after having traveled to a dozen cities and dining at every category of restaurant you can imagine, from street tacos to five-star cuisine).

The rooms aren't what you'd call inexpensive, but you'll be blown away by how far your peso goes. We'd have spent roughly the same at a large chain hotel, but instead were treated to a far more luxurious and comfortable stay.

“a lot is missing”

i had a business travel scheduled to Guadalajara and since I like the boutique hotel concept I decided to give it a try, I am used to the habita boutique hotels chain and was expecting the same, those hotels (condesa df, habita, habita mty, basico etc.) offer you the hip environment, great food, fiendly staff and trendy bars all in one, this doesn't. My first surprise is to find out that the outside of the building is a house, and you have to call on the doorbell for them to open, you have to do this everytime you get in. Yes it didn't feel like a hotel. I got to the front-desk and in a way thats where they get their thumbs up, the girl in there was nice and helpful. I got to my room and both the common areas and the rooms are really well designed. The eclectic interiorism is greatly executed, from wassily chairs, arch lamps, and cowhide rugs to irving steel ladders and tulip furniture in the stone garden where breakfast is served. There I just mentioned all that was positive, now the cons, this is a really small hotel I believe 9 rooms total, so I felt like I was the only guest in the hotel all the time (maybe I was). I went to the common areas and there was nobody, they dont have a restaurant area or claim it is under construction, so breakfast is served in the stone garden, talking about breakfast, it is terrible, they ask you the night before when and where you want your breakfast served, they suggested the terrace so I asked for it to be served there, when I called in the morning to confirm, they told me why in there, the breakfast is served in the stone garden (where is their communication??) a fresh fruit platter was served which was nice, but the oj, coffee and toasts were terrible, oj was bitter, coffee was cold as well as the toasts and pastery that was uneatable. It was so bad I decided to pass on it on my second day in there. Comparing this to Chef Enrique Olveras kitchen from condesa df or habita was impossible.
I finished my meetings early the first night and decided to ask for a drink to relax in the terrace, the furniture was already packed and covered???, I am sure if I have asked they would have unpacked them but I wasn't ready to be waiting for that, had to go to the lobby where I received one of the worst martinis I ever tried. Long story short if you want to have a solo moment feel like home, enjoy interiorism, forget about the tv (cable reception is bad only about 5 channels are captioned) dont mind the temperature, since the ac that is installed is not designed to cool a room that size, and plan to eat somewhere else, this is the place for you.
