i had a business travel scheduled to Guadalajara and since I like the boutique hotel concept I decided to give it a try, I am used to the habita boutique hotels chain and was expecting the same, those hotels (condesa df, habita, habita mty, basico etc.) offer you the hip environment, great food, fiendly staff and trendy bars all in one, this doesn't. My first surprise is to find out that the outside of the building is a house, and you have to call on the doorbell for them to open, you have to do this everytime you get in. Yes it didn't feel like a hotel. I got to the front-desk and in a way thats where they get their thumbs up, the girl in there was nice and helpful. I got to my room and both the common areas and the rooms are really well designed. The eclectic interiorism is greatly executed, from wassily chairs, arch lamps, and cowhide rugs to irving steel ladders and tulip furniture in the stone garden where breakfast is served. There I just mentioned all that was positive, now the cons, this is a really small hotel I believe 9 rooms total, so I felt like I was the only guest in the hotel all the time (maybe I was). I went to the common areas and there was nobody, they dont have a restaurant area or claim it is under construction, so breakfast is served in the stone garden, talking about breakfast, it is terrible, they ask you the night before when and where you want your breakfast served, they suggested the terrace so I asked for it to be served there, when I called in the morning to confirm, they told me why in there, the breakfast is served in the stone garden (where is their communication??) a fresh fruit platter was served which was nice, but the oj, coffee and toasts were terrible, oj was bitter, coffee was cold as well as the toasts and pastery that was uneatable. It was so bad I decided to pass on it on my second day in there. Comparing this to Chef Enrique Olveras kitchen from condesa df or habita was impossible.
I finished my meetings early the first night and decided to ask for a drink to relax in the terrace, the furniture was already packed and covered???, I am sure if I have asked they would have unpacked them but I wasn't ready to be waiting for that, had to go to the lobby where I received one of the worst martinis I ever tried. Long story short if you want to have a solo moment feel like home, enjoy interiorism, forget about the tv (cable reception is bad only about 5 channels are captioned) dont mind the temperature, since the ac that is installed is not designed to cool a room that size, and plan to eat somewhere else, this is the place for you.
