I will not go back. Here's why.
I arrived and was upsold on a room with "Club" privileges. Free breakfast buffet (a little lame) and evening snacks, upgraded room for 29 dollars/night. So I said OK. They then told me that they were giving me an extra special room -#1835 - because they had run out of the room in my upgrade class...and what did I get? A room with a terrace and a nice view. But it had the following problems.
The internet speed slow that was slow to dead. One minute per email sent is all it could handle. And that was if it did not cut out. Functionally it just did not work.
The room was a smoking room (I was not told it would be).
The coffee maker that was broken and leaking water on the carpet (also it only made espresso).
The shower head that was broken and in need of repair.
The heating system was too loud. Also, it was a three speed system that only operated in one speed and it did not heat the room.
I wanted to change rooms but I was exhausted and decided to change rooms the next day.
Next morning...
I called the concierge for tooth brush and comb and was told they would come up "no problem". They never did.
So I went to reception to asked for another room. And they did give it to me. Room 2135. Its heat did not work either and neither did the fan speed. I spent all night under the covers as the loud heating system blew a cool 19c breeze blew over me...almost cold really. And in both rooms the shower head was broken. In the second it had also come off its mount.
I asked that the first night should not be charged at the higher rate and they said they would. But later they did not.. When I got the first room and then when I went down to ask for the second room, they, in both cases, told me there was none because they were fully booked. And the place was busy. So I doubt this had anything to do with not having a maintenance budget. They had customers. My guess...bad management/ownership. Too bad. The Mexican staff seems to work hard enough. Someone upstairs is cutting too many corners.
Anyway, the Hilton is about a mile away. And is a much better hotel (If your a man and you like steaks you have to go to the Angus restaurant. You have to). Also it is right beside the Weston so there is more choice if you want other restaurants to choose from. And it seems a little safer.
Happy Travels...
