“I wont go back. Here's Why...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I will not go back. Here's why.

I arrived and was upsold on a room with "Club" privileges. Free breakfast buffet (a little lame) and evening snacks, upgraded room for 29 dollars/night. So I said OK. They then told me that they were giving me an extra special room -#1835 - because they had run out of the room in my upgrade class...and what did I get? A room with a terrace and a nice view. But it had the following problems.

The internet speed slow that was slow to dead. One minute per email sent is all it could handle. And that was if it did not cut out. Functionally it just did not work.
The room was a smoking room (I was not told it would be).
The coffee maker that was broken and leaking water on the carpet (also it only made espresso).
The shower head that was broken and in need of repair.
The heating system was too loud. Also, it was a three speed system that only operated in one speed and it did not heat the  room.

I wanted to change rooms but I was exhausted and decided to change rooms the next day.

Next morning...

I called the concierge for tooth brush and comb and was told they would come up "no problem". They never did.

So I went to reception to asked for another room. And they did give it to me. Room 2135.  Its heat did not work either and neither did the fan speed. I spent all night under the covers as the loud heating system blew a cool 19c breeze blew over me...almost cold really. And in both rooms the shower head was broken. In the second it had also come off its mount.

I asked that the first night should not be charged at the higher rate and they said they would. But later they did not.. When I got the first room and then when I went down to ask for the second room, they, in both cases, told me there was none because they were fully booked. And the place was busy. So I doubt this had anything to do with not having a maintenance budget. They had customers. My guess...bad management/ownership. Too bad. The Mexican staff seems to work hard enough. Someone upstairs is cutting too many corners.

Anyway, the Hilton is about a mile away. And is a much better hotel (If your a man and you like steaks you have to go to the Angus restaurant. You have to). Also it is right beside the Weston so there is more choice if you want other restaurants to choose from. And it seems a little safer.

Happy Travels...

“Exceeded expectations. Great staff, great room, great overall experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

As a Guadalajara resident, I never get to stay over at local hotels. Many of my customers do and I usually recommend them the GDL Hilton. On New Year's Eve the Presidente Intercontinental offered a great deal: MXN 2,300.00 (USD 160.00) for a NYE party (two persons), including a room for the night.

I have to say that our whole "hotel experience" (from the moment we were greeted by the valed parking until the moment we checked-out) was GREAT. Literally everybody we met from the hotel staff (including guards, waiters, etc.) showed a great attitude and sincere kindness to us, even though they had to work on the 31st of December / 1st of January! The room has recently been refurbished and looks fresh, elegant, clean and stylish. Breakfast is great.

The Presidente is right across the Plaza del Sol. Not the fanciest mall in town but good for shopping.

Highly recommended!

“Too noisy in the Club Intercontinental rooms area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We were offered a room in the Club Intercontinental area because it was going to be very private and not noisy. It was during Christmas holidays and my husband and I wanted to wake up late. The second night, there where maintenance people three rooms away from ours fixing a door at 8 am. I asked the person to stop working, who fortunately he did! The fourth night, the cleaning crew is extremely noisy and they were having great conversations from door to door while they where cleaning the rooms and while we were sleeping. Not much for a private and calmed week! The bed mattress was also too firm. Pillows were awesome though.
The food is average. Our room was spacious but the bathroom was too dark. If you want a calmed room, make sure that if they offer it, they keep their word!

“Fantastic service with a smile!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

This is some of the best service we have ever received - always with a smile. We enjoyed a junior suite that was beautiful and newly renovated(in the last year I was told) on the Club level.
We visit Guadalajara a couple of times a year and will definitely return here. There are cheaper hotels in Guadalajara(we have stayed in some of them) but when you factor in all the good points of this hotel it really is a good value. The staff always went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The location is far from el centro but there are plenty of options for eating and shopping right across the street at the Plaza del Sol and within 10 minutes(depending on traffic) you can be downtown by taxi.

“Nice stay overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Very well located across from plaza del sol shopping center and close to many excellent restaurants. About 15 minutes from el centro and about 20 to 25 minutes from the airport. Had a club level corner room with a beautiful view, complimentary bottled water, wifi ,continental breakfast and covered parking. Well worth the 30 dollars additional per night. Not the best hotel in guadalajara, but overall a very good value.
