Please take the time reading my notes re. my rating before excluding this place from your shorlist! I mean it: Maybe my 3 stars only rating is not really fair, but in my own particular case the unreliability of the acces to internet has been very inconvenient. Out of a week at least two days without access. And if I did not need internet 24 x 7, I would have rated this place 4 stars, maybe even 5. ( And my apology to the staff if they read this review. )
Now the very good points:
- I felt I was in safe area, I had no worries walking about in nearby streets in daylight on my own. ( That said, another one can always be unlucky anywhere ... )
- It is very close to city center where a taxi will only take you about 15 min. and cost you about 4 Eur outside rush hour.
- Proximity of supermarket ( about 200 metrees ) where you will have considerable choice of foods. At the time of writing, this is called Superama and is located at the roundabout joining the streets "Aztecas" and "Manuel Acuna".
- It is very quiet which means one can rest properly when needed. And I found the matress very supporting for the back and neck and not sinking which is another important factor for a good rest.
- The presence of a kitchenette allows to cook own meals which is a bonus if you suffer food intolerances for instance, otherwise it will also save you money if you are on a budget. But beware, nor cooking, nor washing up are included in the price, you would have to pay extra.
- The environment is really great: it is set in a beautiful park with trees and lawns, the cottages are well spaced out from one another there is no building really overlooking your plot which is good if Madam wants to sunbathe in semi privacy.
-The staff is very nice and obliging, trying to make your stay as best as it can be .
- If you like dining out there are plenty of realy nice restaurants and bars to choose from.
- Although the cottage I had was very dated, I noticed they are in the process o gutting them one by one, and I imagine they get as nice inside as they are outside, and perhaps if book in advance ( unlike myself ) you maybe able to avail of them.
- Again unlike myself, If you are happy to limit your internet usage to 9 a.m. until 10 pm and not need full privacy like with telephony via skype, then there are plenty of cafes and bars that will give you access to internet thrown in with your beverage costs.
- Pricewise, it is not cheap ( 1,500 pesos for one night or 8,000 for the week, 20,000 for amonth ) but to me safety and other aspects as listed above have no price, just a pity about the internet where they seem to suffer from the poor service of the local provider....
- There is a pool but I have no tried it.
Do not hesitate to book this place if you do not need access to internet at all times.
