This hotel is designed in an international style hotel that feels like circa 1965, though someone told me it was built much more recently. There is nothing mexican about it.
The hotel seems to be divided into two halves. The rooms on the right side of the buidlng mostly appeared to open only to an interior courtyard with no exterior windows. My first room was on that side. I did not like it. If I am in a city with great air almost year around, I want to have it in my hotel room. The room was spacious and comfortable, but moldy smelling. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and wifi worked fine. The front desk warned that wifi may not work near the back of the hotel, but my room had a strong signal.
I changed the second night to a room on the left side of the hotel that did have an exterior window. It smelled better, but the bed was hard as a rock. There was noticeable noise from cars when the window was open.
There are less expensive, better options for a hotel in Guadalajara.
Worth mentioning: this hotel is immediately next door to what some consider the best italian restaurant in the city. It is called Ristorante da Massimo - and was very good for the one meal I had there.
