We arrived at 12:30 a.m. w/my mom of 85 yrs. Priced $1, 250.00 pesos for the only Jr. pentroom they had available, they said. Room was dusty, no A/C, and no telephone. Requested another room, and after we saw them they were the same! Suddenly there were more rooms available for less price. We didn't see one because the key would not open the room. Were shown another smaller room w/a double bed, but the A/C was not working well, very dusty and musky, and no telephone. We were so tired since it was 2:00 a.m., that we said ok if they had a fold out bed for my mom and we were priced $700 pesos. As we waited in the lounge while the room was being prepared, the receptionist told me that there was an additional charge; "commission" that had to be paid to the taxi driver. I told her we already paid him when we arrived. She said they paid the commission when we arrived for the $1,250.00 pesos Jr. I told her that room and bill does not exist since we are now waiting for the $700 pesos room. She said it had to be charge on our credit card because they already paid it out. I told her it was their problem. I requested to speak to the manager. She called her at "home" and the manager would not waiver the commission fee. We demanded our credit card charges be voided and our signed receipts returned. We walked out of that hotel at 2:30 a.m. The butler at the Fenix is the only person who was kind to us. Caught a cab outside, and he drove us two blocks over to the Holiday Inn of which I would recommend.
