“A welcome oasis”

As another reviewer said, quite accurately, it is really hard to find a nice place to stay in Cuernavaca at a reasonable price. Casa La Malinche is much more than just a nice place at a reasonable price. Our only regret is that we didn't plan more time in our stay to simply hang out at the house and enjoy the tranquility of the place and the view from the terrace.

The house is built on the side of one of Cuernavaca's several ravines, and has three basic levels. The rooms we saw each have access to two of those levels---the ceilings are high, the rooms spacious, and the neighborhood amazingly quiet for how convenient it is to downtown Cuernavaca. The small considerations Doug and Betty alert you to when you arrive---patience with the hot water (which always arrived nice and hot, eventually) etc....are standard considerations in any home in Cuernavaca and are more than compensated for by the beauty, comfort and convenience of the house, and the graciousness of the hosts.

  • Liked — Beautiful quiet house, just the sort of home you would want to be invited to in Cuernavaca
  • Disliked — Can't think of anything.

“The best B&B on the planet!”

This is by far the most wonderful place I've ever stayed at when travelling. Doug and Betty are warm and friendly, and make you feel very welcome. They're helpful to have around when trying to figure out where to go and how to get there, and they'll share a drink or some stories with you when you just want to stay in. The property is beautiful, the rooms are wonderful, and all the major attractions of Cuernavaca and Morelos are easily accessible. If you're travelling to this area of Mexico, you can't do any better than Casa La Malinche.

“A Delightful Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2006

Reasonable accommodation is tough to find in Cuernavaca: it is either too expensive or leaves much to be desired. Casa La Malinche fills the gap very nicely. Doug (from Southern Ontario) and Betty (from Mexico) are the gracious and accommodating hosts in this lovely home. It is situated at the end of a quiet (you can barely hear the roosters), residential street on the edge of a deep ravine (you walk down two flights to your room). Rooms are clean, water is hot (remember the tap on the right is hot) and the delicious breakfast (fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice, granola, fruit, toast and coffee) is served on the terrace and available at your convenience. Cable TV is available and I was told high speed wireless internet will be available soon. The price is very reasonable, I think we paid about $55.00 US a night. It is not conveniently located on or near a bus (known locally as a colectivo) route, but taxis are inexpensive and available with a phone call or a five minute walk to the main street (Compositores). A taxi ride to the Zocalo is about $3.50 US. Besides having all the physical amenities, the best part of Casa La Malinche are the wonderful hosts; Doug and Betty.
