“Totally Chill”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2007

My buddy and I stayed here on our way out of Mexico City on the way to Taxco. Place is totally chill. Casa del Artista stands in perfect contrast to the craziness of Mexico City. It was great just to sit out on the balcony drinking beers and smoking cigars in the cool quiet night.

Rosalita was great. She negotiated with our taxi drivers, took us out to some great local spots in Cuernavaca and even let us drink some good tequila that she had around the house.

The house is amazing and decorated with some really cool art. I saw some people complained about the pool. I didn't have any problems with it. It was cold, but what do you expect, you're up in the mountains. It's actually set up really nicely because there is a trampoline right next to it from which you can jump in.

Anyway, I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a place to chill for a couple days.

“loved loved Rosalia at the Villa del Artista”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2006

James and I had the most woenerful stay at the Villa del Artista. Rosalia is the perfect playmate. She showed us all around Cuernavaca and included us in her family celebrations. The hospitality that she extends to her guest is above and beyond what is expected.
Toni, Rosalia's assistant is an additional asset. Always there when you need her. Drink, nuts and tacos out by the pool. The Matisse room is where we stayed for the month of February and Toni took care of beyond our expectations.
They even brought a DVD player for us to view the DVD's that we bought while we were there.
ABSOLUTELY WILL STAY THERE AGAIN!

“Great Place to Stay, Nice and quite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2006

This was a nice B&B to stay, what I liked the most was its privacy, nice pool and well kept backyard where you can take a brake and read a book. The area is surrounded of huge trees which provides some nice shade and makes the place cool. The place is within walking distance from Carlos&Charlies (for a nice family meal during the day and party on Friday or Saturday night!), easy to take the bus or "rutas" or call a taxi service to take you to downtown (taxis are $5 tops). I recomend "Cafe Molino" which is in the Plaza right before the other side of the street from Walt-Mart - Great coffee, breakfast, desserts for a very good price. ***I LOVE CUERNAVACA**It is the city of the Ethernal Spring.

“Beautiful house, wonderful people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2006

For us, Cuernavaca is the Casa del Artista: the beautiful house and garden, and the warmth and intelligence of Rosalia and her assistant, Toni. Apart from the basics, i.e., the house and grounds are kept impeccably, the truly memorable aspect of our stay there are the experiences we had that tourists rarely have: the spontaneous invitation to have dinner with Rosalia and her friends, the great food and talk, and most of all, the concern and caring response to a sudden illness, a profound fatigue that came upon me in the midst of our stay. Rosalia immediately called her doctor, arranged for her taxi driver, Diego, to drive us wherever we needed to go, and putting everything else on her schedule on hold, accompanied us, serving as interpreter, to the lab for tests, and then to the doctor and the pharmacy, so that by that evening I was already on antibiotics. I call that not only truly first class service, but human behavior of a very high order. At Casa del Artista, one is not only a guest in the inn, but if the need arises, one is treated like a member of the family. I can't think of a better recommendation!

“Nice Place to stay. Pool was a dissapointment”

This is a beautiful property and the staff and owner were very nice and helpful. Included breakfast was good. The owner was kind enough to let me use her internet connection for email.
I decided to stay in this b&b because of the pool but found that it was covered with bugs and very cold because it was not heated. So that was very disappointing for that reason.
As well, as in most of Mexico they were barking dogs until all hours of the night. Not the fault of the B&B, but be prepared to put up with this or to wear ear plugs.
