This hotel has fabulous write-ups in many places but I was disappointed. Yes, the grounds are lovely but that's where the 'excellent' stops. This is not a 'destination spa' but a hotel with spa facilities, and not a grand one at that. It is very expensive for what you get.
While the daily rates are high, the rooms are spartan and do not exude the kind of luxury one might expect. Simple white washed and cheap looking walls, ageing furniture and no television. And spiders and their webs in the not so thoroughly cleaned closets... Internet connection is not available in the rooms but only in some of the public areas, including the restaurant, and half the time I was there it did not work.
Why trick guests into the expensive restaurant with their ipads and laptops? Is it to make sure they spend on the expensive food on offer? It is odd that while the hotel's stated philosophy is that guests should relax and not worry about emails, the management encourages you to bring your laptop to the restaurant. This might disturb other guests who actually want to get away from their daily email grind! And then on the absence of tv: what is more relaxing than watching a good movie or tv show once in a while. I do not like hotels that dictate to me what I should or should not do to relax.
The spa treatments are good but nothing out of the ordinary...
The place has potential if it does a complete re-think of its philosophy and if it invests heavily in upgrading the rooms and equips them properly. My room did not even have a hair dryer. Have never seen a spa hotel without one..... This was a first.
