My wife and I just got home from a two week stay at Villa Tuparaiso. We"ve been going to Mexico fo about 12 years and I must say that for first time niether one of was ready to come home! It was our first time staying at Barra and we immediatly fell in love with the village. We were treated as family, every one we met was friendly and helpful. The Villa was perfect, clean, like new, great kitchen, and a fantastic bed. We can't wait to get back!
P.S. If you love Barra de Potosi join the cause to save it from the governments plans for a cruise ship pier!

“Very clean and well maintained”

I would highly recommend staying with Eugen at Villas Tuparaiso. I was very impressed with how clean it is kept, and how well everything is maintained. Eugen also speaks English and Spanish, and seems to know almost everyone in town. If you need any help, he will gladly help you. He helped us arrange for fishing, and picked us up and dropped us off at the airport (just a short drive away).

I will say that this isn't a luxury resort, and doesn't offer those sorts of amenities, but very comfy beds, very clean rooms, and a nice screened in front porch area shared between the 4 rooms.

I can't say enough good things about Barra De Potosi as well. Villas Tuparaiso is very centrally located in the quaint laid back fishing town. You must try the nightime tacos next door. Best pork tacos I've ever had (it's the tortillas). Short walk (maybe 4 minutes) to the beach and all the fantastic beachside seafood restaurants. My favorite was enramada Netos, but they were all very good and serve some of the freshest seafood you'll find anywhere.

Loved my stay! Keep up the good work Eugen.

“Clean comfortable affordable digs by a long gorgeous beach.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

This is the 3rd time that my wife & I have gone to Villas Tuparaiso (VT) for a long winter stay. This year we were there from January 6th to February 9th. Obviously, we like the place. The family that run VT are most attentive to their guests. They go out of their way to make sure all their patrons are having a good time. VT is a comfortable little oasis in a small family oriented fishing village that sits on a remarkably beautiful 16 km crescent beach.

If you want want the all inclusive shake & bake environment of Ixtapa and are into the nightclub scene, then VT and Barra de Potosi are not for you. If you are looking for a safe, tranquil, easy going place in the sun on a wonderful beach to recharge your soul, you will love VT and Barra de Potosi.

The VT website is current and accurate with respect to its accommodations. There is a wealth of info on the web about what to do and see in and around Barra de Potosi.

“Absolutely fabulous accomodations in a small Mexican fishing village.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2011

We visited Barra de Potosi for two weeks in early January. This was our first time visiting Mexico. The friends ( from Vancouver, Canada) that we went down to "Barra" with, had been to Villas Tuparaiso three times and highly recommended it. We stayed at Villas-Tupariao and can't say enough good things about our stay. The rooms were large, comfortable and very clean. There is a screened porch that allows the four rooms the ability to eat at the tables or rest and read books in the provided hammocks. There is a fully stocked kitchen building just outside the villas. Eugene is a wonderful host, who goes out of his way to make sure that his guests have everything they need. He became more of a friend then a landlord and provided interesting conversation and viewpoints on all the questions we asked on Mexico's political, social and economic situations. Berra de Potosi is a small fishing village with the most fabulous 16 km beach. We walked along this swimable, sandy ,beach daily stopping in the little restaurants and cafes situated back from the beach and relaxed with drinks until we decided to walk back. Although we spoke little Spanish, the people of the village were very friendly and even invited us to a wedding reception that the whole village was attending. I would highly recommend visiting "Barra" and I think Villas-Tuparaiso is the best place to stay.

“A little bit of paradise.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2011

I have nothing but good to say about Villas-Tuparaiso.

Eugene is on top of everything and the villas are extremely well maintained and clean as a pin.

This was my first trip to interior Mexico and it could not have been a better experience.
The people of Barra De Potosi are warm and friendly and despite my poor Spanish, no one made us feel the least bit uncomfortable and were aways ready to accommodate you any way they could.
