“4 Great weeks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

Just got back and need to tell all what a wonderful place to kick back. When we got there they were redoing the roof on #2 the suite we had booked,so got to spend 6 nights in #9. What a treat. Great bed cozy space and the cooling tub. Then moved to #2 Wow Bed still good and what a view. Spent alot of time just sitting at our outdoor kitchen in the evenings. Well maintained and very clean. Thanks Elizabeth for all your good work. And Gabe the handyman never stopped working to make the place a special place. There are not many hotels on Madera beach with a place to sit on the beach but we had one with comfortable lounge chairs and great view of the Bay.No pool but with the ocean right there who needs one. A short walk to downtown and many great places to shop and eat. Never had a bad meal. would recommend to anyone who wants a different experience than your basic All inclusive. I even cooked in our well set up kitchen. If we needed anything all we had to do was ask. We our already booked in for next year. Gladys the owner is a lovely woman who really wants to make sure your stay is perfect. Can't wait for next year.

Room Tip: Room 9 would be great for a couple who want a bit more privacy . All rooms that we saw had something...

As a single mom I felt so spoiled by the service and kindness of the staff. It was my first time to Zihua and it was a perfect experience with my family and friends. Arena Suites is clean and comfortable, a great walk to town and right on the beach. I highly recommend it!

We have been staying here for nine years now and have stayed in #7, #4 and #5 (before they were interior rooms), #2 and #1. We continue to come back because of the great value for our dollar, the cleanliness, the location, the staff and the feeling that we are truly in Mexico. We love that we are just steps away from the beach and not having a pool has never bothered us. This trip we had friends staying next door at the Hotel Brisas del Mar and we joined them at their pool, ordered drinks and food from the waiters and tipped well. They were thrilled to see us! The owner Glady's is alway gracious and willing to help in any way she can and the staff, including Elizabeth, the maid who has been there as long as we have is always quick to fix any issues that may crop up. This trip we had some family and friends staying with us and three of the four bungalows did not have hammocks up. It has been low season so I am assuming that was why. We mentioned it and by the evening, everyone had hammocks! I usually hesitate to tell people about this place because I am afraid it will get so popular, we won't be able to get in but as the economy and tourism is so bad right now in Mexico and because I consider Arena Suites my second home and a second family, I just had to do a review on them!

Room Tip: If you have two couples, #1 at the top is great! 2 bedrooms each with their own bath and own A/C...

“nice views, odd design: note that correct name is Arena Suites”

This is a thin strip of a building constructed up a cliff overlooking La Madera Beach in Zihuatanejo. Most rooms have a bedroom and living area, an outdoor kitchen (some kitchens are indoors), and a huge connecting deck with beautiful views overlooking the beach (actually some decks are smaller, and some are not directly adjoined to rooms, but are reached instead by a small corridor). Many of the decks are covered, or partially covered, with a thatched roof, which is great for keeping temperatures cool and avoiding the scorching sun. However, these low hanging roofs pretty much keep sea breezes from reaching the bedrooms, located behind the decks and kitchens. This detail was disappointing, as the advertised "ocean views" end up really only being nice from the outer deck - and not from the bedroom, which tends to be hot and stuffy, requiring air conditioner and a closed window - a real shame when air temperatures outdoors are not that hot at night and there is often a breeze. That said, staff was very friendly here, and the place was kept spotlessly clean and was decorated with lovely potted tropical plants. Free wireless internet definitely a plus. The property also has its own private beachfront - I mean its own palapas and lounge chairs - downstairs, which is convenient. La Madera beach, while nothing like the expansive La Ropa, is clean and pleasant.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 and 3 have their own big decks.

“Perfect place to stay in Zihua”

Very good hotel, close to everything: downtown, restaurants, markets, pier, grocery, activities. Beach was great, verry quiet, hardly no one except on weekends when mexican families come. Waves not too big, not too small. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean. We liked it so much that we already booked for next year.
