Stayed at the Dreams Puerto Vallarta as part of a conference trip between February 4-8th. Arrival into PVR airport was relatively on time. Once inside the terminal, that is where the chaos begins. My advice would be to try and avoid a late Saturday or Sunday afternoon arrival. The line up for immigration was long, however, not as long as the line up to x-ray your bags before departing customs and getting into the terminal. I believe it took us a little over an hour to get out of the airport…Bus ride to Dreams was through town and not bad, about 45 minutes in what appeared to be pretty heavy traffic.
Once you arrive at the resort, you immediately feel like you have arrived in a different place. As a group we have a very quick check in and baggage delivery. Stayed in the preferred club tower and had a very well appointed renovated room and bathroom with a nice size balcony overlooking the adult pool and ocean.
The hotel had set up a nice reception on the beach for us the first night with appetizers and full bar which was nice.
Rooms:
Very well appointed, nice rainfall shower and Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Bedding was nice and the room was very spacious. Always had mini-bar replenished daily and maid service was very quick and efficient twice daily. Wireless internet worked well in the room, albeit a little slow at times, however, on par with many resorts in this part of the world. Nice balcony overlooking the grounds and ocean.
Restaurants:
Ate at both Oceana and Seaside Grill. Both were very good with excellent service and good food. Some of the portions were small, however, everything was very tasty. The buffet breakfast was very good with lots of variety. The couple of occasions where I ordered room service I found it to be very efficient and good.
The night of the Super Bowl they set up a party on the beach with three 30ft screens, dugout canoes filled with beer, full bar and staff walking around handing our appetizers and goodies. This was the best party for the Super Bowl that I have seen any hotel put on, it was very good!
Bars:
Service at all bars was very efficient and friendly. As a beer drinker you had your choice of Corona, Model Especial, Pacifico, Modelo light, Bud Light and Budweiser. Not a bad selection for an All Inclusive in my opinion. They did have some higher end liquor if you asked for it such as crown royal at the rendez vous bar which they keep under the cabinet for no additional charge.
Beach/Pools:
Beach and pool areas were very nice, pool temperature was okay and service was very good around both. Beach conditions can change rapidly so be aware of the conditions. Apparently the north end of the beach is calmer than the south.
Overall:
I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling in the area, the beach area is nice as it is bordered on either sides with the mountains and the staff are very friendly and efficient. One last note is that they appear to have a very large kids club facility for those families travelling.
