The Mayan Palace PV is absolutely beautiful and in a prime location near the marina. The rooms are beautiful, the grounds are gorgeous and the pool area and restaurant were great. The staff at the front desk had no personality at all and the girl at the concierge was more interested with painting her finger nails than with answering any of our questions. the Tourist area that booked excursions would only take cash, which made me a little nervous! When we paid her she just stuck the money (approx. $700) in her pocket. When we got to our destination via 3 cabs the boat was not in operation on that day and we were told to get our money from the people at the hotel. After arriving back 3 hours later, the not so friendly lady did not want to return our money and told us to pick another excursion! This was not an option as we were leaving the next day. 3 out of 6 of us had to fight with her and then threaten to call the police before she finally returned our money. She laughed when we threatened to call the cops and stated "Your in Mexico, they no do nothing here!" BEWARE. Last but certainly not least, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO WITH ANYONE IN REGARDS TO VISITING A NEW RESORT! We were approached by a man at hotel with a hotel emblem on his shirt and said that he would give us each $150 to visit some new resort that was being built. I will make a very long story short.......the six of us were picked up at the hotel taken in three seperate cars and in three seperate directions. 7 hours later we had police involved and could not locate the remainder of our friends whom also returned with police escorts. After we all exchanged stories in the lobby upon our return we shared some of our bazaar day with the concierge since he had asked how our day was and he proceeded to reach behind the desk and hand each of us a flyer that read "WARNING......DO NOT GO WITH ANYONE IN REGARDS TO TIMESHARE BLAH BLAH BLAH.......This is something that should be given at check in, not after the incident. I have traveled all over Mexico and am not naive to the timeshare games and dangers, but I never experienced anything like this. Ruined several days of our vacation. It seemed to all members of my party that the staff at the hotel was some how involved. Hard to explain but very scarey. Please be careful.
Room Tip: Avoid timeshare solicitors no matter what.
