My girlfriend and I stayed at Case del Puente for two nights and had a wonderful time. The location in right in the mix of things in historic PV and the hotel grounds are wonderful. Molly, the owner, is quite nice and reminds me of my grandmother. However, I have one red flag regarding my stay. The rooms cost $85 but when I went ot pay, she jotted down the amount on a sticky then went to a calculator to figure out 12 percent tax. So the trip cost almost $200 instead of $170. I'd been travelling in Mexico for a while and never paid a hotel tax. Two things struck me as odd: 1) That she didn't the room plus tax cost and had to calculate it in front of me. I think this was for show, and 2) the total was written on a sticky (and paid in cash) rather than a reciept of some kind with the hotel name on it. Usually I would question this but she threw me off with being elderly and reminding me of a nice grandma. My girlfriend and I also lost $250 at either this hotel or another. The room had a safe but stupidly we didn't use it. Regardless of where you stay in Mexico be sure to secure your valuables. With those caveats, though, the place was quite nice. :)

We adored our stay here! Molly & her daughter Maria were very generous hosts and made us feel like we were "home". It is hard to believe that the home is in such a bustling part of town. We felt like we had our own private tree house in the jungle. The full functioning kitchen, generous space and cozy decor made us not want to leave. Probably not a great fit for very physical kids, but great for quiet reflection.

We loved the ambience and spaciousness. What a great experience, going to the local grocery store and buying what we needed to make our Margarita's to enjoy on our terrace each evening before heading out to dinner. Tips: take the city buses, 8 pesos, bring comfortable shoes for walking the cobble stone streets.

We stayed at Casa Del Puente in the early part of May 2010. We couldnt have been more pleased with out host and accomodation. The owner rents out the two apartments which make up the lower floor of her large house that is nestled behind the Fuente del Puente resturant and along side the river. We stayed in the one bedroom, and found it clean , spacious, and light filled. The indoors blend seamlessly with the outdoors and while its open, its also quite private with very little street noise. When you stay here , it helps to be mindful that you are more or less in the jungle. There will be lizards and insects in the room. this is not a sterile environment, but its lovely. We enjoyed preparing drinks in the kitchen and consuming them on the patio. We had neighbors for a portion of our visit, who dropped in a couple times for a drink but as other reviewers have stated, it seems that here you can have as little or as much company as you want. The owner's adult children and dogs also paid us a few casual visits. Our room was so pretty and relaxing, we ended up doing much less exploring of the general area than we had planned and much more lounging and eating. We did fine dining, as well as digging into the local street food. The best thing about this place is its location, within walking distance of most anything worth doing or seeing in this part of vallarta.

We had a large jug of purified water replenished often, and fresh towels daily. The resturant downstairs is perfectly fine, if not slightly over priced for dinner. Do go down for breakfast and order extra pastry, its divine. Even though Casa del Puente is right in the heart of the city, the way its situated makes it feel very safe and homey.

If you are not into big resorts I can hardly imagine a more pleasant place to stay . Weather or not you are a budget travler, you will appreciate this unique property for its charms and good value.
