We stayed at Estancia San Carlos from Jan 1st until March 26, 2011, and really ejoyed it. The rooms were kept very clean, daily maid service. The staff was excellent, from the Manager Francisco, front desk Yesina and Leino, Oswaldo who could fix anything and give you a helping hand when you needed it. The ladies (Marta, Elena and Marie Close) who kept everything clean, and were always cheerful and helpful.
The mattress are are new, the refrigerators are being replaced as needed, and we had new toaster, blender, microwave and coffee maker. Wi Fi, and cable were being updated while we were there.
The pool was cleaned and maintained regularily, with ample lounges and tables available for everyone.
We enjoyed the neighbourhood, lots of small shops, deli's, bakeries, fresh fish markets, restaurants and close to the beach. This is an urban neighbourhood, and there are lots of buses and local nightlife. For the most part we adapted to the noise, on the weekend the Lions Club holds local events and it can get pretty loud (earplugs help).
We are looking forward to our return visit Jan 2012.

I lived in a two bedroom apartmnet at the San Carlos for the month of February, 2011 and enjoyed my stay. I loved the location. It is near the river, ocean, markets, restaurants, clubs, etc that I visited just about daily.

Yesenia and her staff were very courteous and helpful. I had a couple of minor plumbing problems that they attended to immediately. The daily maid service kept the rooms very clean. Wi-fi worked fine for me. The cable TV and WI-fi were being upgraded near the end of my stay.

This is definitely urban living. I used ear plugs for sleeping at night for the first week but then got used to the background noise.

I would stay at the place again. Two guests who visited me during the month for a week liked the place as well.

I stayed at this hotel for four days in October. All of my new clothes were stolen. At first everyone denied it, then the staff blamed each other and then there was talk of repaying me, which of course would be impossible. I was never able to talk to the owner. This was a very costly and disappointing stay,and it started my adventure on a bad foot. Also, another guest informed me that her bathing suit went missing, the staff admitted to taking it but could not return or pay for the item.

This hotel changed ownership in July of 2009 so many of the previous comments no longer apply...Exceptionally clean, maid service everyday if you request it.
All suites, Half one, half two bedroom units.
Beds hard but comfortable.

Cooking equipment and table service sparse!!!! But they are improving..some units now have microwaves, some have toasters ( we didn't) some get a coffee pot. (we did for half the time).
This hotel is in the club district in the romantic zone so sleep is a hard thing to find sometimes.

I can't say enough good things about the staff..they tried so hard to please.
The reception ladies have a Spanish/English dictionary to help with the language difficulties.

This is a fine place to stay...4 blocks from the beach, few blocks from the fresh food market.

If being surrounded by French speaking Canadians is not your cup of tea, do not stay here!!!

For my liking the pool is not kept clean enough and the circulation fountain rarely runs.
