“Clean, economical, and friendly - excellent value here !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 April 2011

For $70 dollars a night , we had a massive apartment ( with 2 bathrooms, kitchenette, TV). Very mexican in design, and exceptionally clean. Staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome, and were a great resource for things to do (ask for Ruthe).
The room included a free breakfast (a menu with eggs, bacon, pancakes etc), and was 2 blocks from the supermarket (for lunch stuff and drinks). The grounds were immaculate, and the pool was great. It's across the street from the beach, and right on the main street so you can catch a bus ($.65) downtown, or to the marina for dinner. If you are looking for luxury, go to an all inclusive - If you want a safe, clean, central place to hang out , go to Puerto De Luna !

Room Tip: Get the junior suite

“Stay Away...Far, Far Away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTELl. We were misled on this hotel, and won it through an auction. The rooms are not worth the price at all. I could have slept in an ally, and I would have been more comfortable, and probably felt safer too. Rooms at the Super 8 in Seattle are ten times nicer. There are too many things wrong with this place to even list, but I am going to try anyway.
My suggestion to anyone is to pay the extra money, and stay across the street at the Holiday Inn or one of the other many hotels on the beach. My wife and I switched to the Holiday Inn 3 days into our trip, and it was ten times nicer, cleaner, friendlier, and safer.
So here is my list of of complaints:
1) Unclean and Unkept - mold in the kitchen and bathroom, and the smell absolutely wreaked. One of the 8 other couples in the entire place complained that their plumbing and electricity were not working. Our A/C was as loud as a jet engine. Toilet troubles. TV did not function. Ant problem, and the list goes on.
2) Not comfortable - As someone else mentioned, the beds are hard as rocks. My back ached for hours every morning.
3) Safety - My wife flat out felt unsafe, and I would have to agree We have been a few trips to Mexico, and we had never had that uneasy feeling before. The door to the room was old style lock and metal key. No deadbolt. Two of the nights there was constant screaming and wall thumping. No lock box for valuables.
I can't say how bad this place was. Book it at your own risk. Shop around, there are many others way better. Do your research and get something on the beach in the "hotel zone."

“Over priced - bed is the same as sleeping on the floor”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

The photos on the Puerto de Luna website are misleading and made me think this hotel would be lovely to visit. It is not. We paid $115 a night for a jr suite that had 2 rock-hard double beds. The suite was on the 5th floor and there was no elevator. We have a 1 yr-old son and it was difficult to carry him plus our things up and down the stairs. The furniture is not comfortable at all and looks like a motel. There was no shower curtain so stuff in bath room got wet. The only pros at this hotel are the location (close to downtown, marina, and airport) and free breakfast.

Hi,

I appreciate your feedback about the hotel and I am deeply sorry you didn't have a good time during your stay. We are working hard to make things better for future guests.
Now, all our guests are welcome to ask for a room change if the designated room doesn't fit with their needs or doesn't fulfull their expectations, so the front-desk staff will always give the best possible solution for the guest.

Thanks for pointing our location. I believe our free breakfast is really good, hope you have enjoyed it.

We make a Girls trip in march 18 to march 22, to puerto Vallarta, we visit this hotel and we get a good surprise for the price we paid we found a good Confortable and big room, big pool, nice people working in the hotel, no too far for downtown, u can take a bus and stay in malecon en 5 min. taxi charge 50 pesos to clubs. quiet place to rest. They add u breaksfast in their place, is not a big food but u can eat it.

the only problem was the smell of pipe and that continued was covering the bath but, they were very rapid to repair it. but i can recomended this hotel.
Hotel it is not in the beach, but we were going out to a nearby beach club that is not expensive and is very nice.

“Do not stay here - you can do much better for the same price elsewhere!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2010

Terrible bed, terrible food, and they stole my own pillow!
The property and location of the hotel is good unfortunately everything is poorly maintained. The beds are very old which is not good in a warm, humid place and very bad if you suffer from back pain. I took my own goose feathered pillow and unfortunately left it behind. When I called the next day housekeeping misteriously could not find it even thoug it had my full name written on it! I guess I was lucky that they did not steal something else!
The "free" breakfast may sound appealing, unfortunately it is made with very cheap ingredients and as a result tastes quite bad.
I don't usually write bad reviews, but I am convinced that you can stay at a much better place for the same price.
