We have spent a week at Los Tules every year for the past three years. We love the value, the beach, the pools, the location.....
Okay, yes....the time share people can be hardsell. You just ignore them. They'll get the hint. They don't bother us anymore. At check in, we just tell them "no thank you" and they leave us alone. I suppose for people who aren't used to the time share spiel, it would be really annoying. Just don't get drawn in...don't even give them the chance to talk...tell them you're busy and you need to go and leave it at that.
Check in can take a bit of time if you've never been, as they explain the pool towels, location of things, inventory of dishes, etc.....but, once that's over, it's pretty smooth sailing.
We stay in a beachfront condo that is absolutely beautiful. It overlooks the beach and the main pool/restaurant. The condo is spacious and clean and has lots of windows and doors that can be opened to let the ocean breeze in. The patios are fabulous and have tables and chairs, and loungers on them. We eat our breakfast outside every day and enjoy the ocean!
The kitchens are fully equipped, so you can walk across the street to the supermarket and buy whatever you could possibly need and eat in, which is really nice. Also, across the street there is a Pizza Hut (never tried it) if you really need to fill a pizza fix.
There are like 10 pools at Los Tules! You can always find one that isn't crowded. There is even a kids pool, which is fabulous! The pools are always clean and warm and the people around them are always very friendly.
There is a restaurant at the main pool that has great drink specials that change every day. Most days, we'll get the 2 for 1 special for that day and the drinks are big and strong. Perfect for enjoying around the pool in the sunshine! They also have good lunch and dinner and some great snacks! We have always had good luck at the restaurant at Los Tules.
The location is fabulous! It's close enough to old Puerto Vallarta that you can walk if you want. We usually use the public busses that are less than a dollar round trip. You can be in town in 5 minutes, where all of the bars, restaurants and shops are. Plus, within a few blocks of Los Tules, there are tons of fast food type restaurants, shops, banks, liquor stores, etc. Everything is very convenient.
The beach is small and divided in two sections, but there is security, it is clean and there are loungers and chairs with umbrellas on the beach. There are many venders that come by selling various wares, you will have this no matter where you stay in PV. You can get some good deals this way. In fact, we have booked numerous tours with vendors on the beach and had great luck! Always a good price and exactly what we were looking to do. You can also book tours at the kiosk right by the main pool. The people that work there are friendly, helpful and speak great English. They also have a little library of books that you can read while you're there, which is really nice.
Please keep in mind that this is Mexico. If you leave food out on the counters, you will have ants. It's not anything to do with the condo itself, it's the location. :-) I've seen others post about ants....and just know that if you don't leave food out, there won't be any.
We LOVE Los Tules and plan on going back for many years to come!!!
